The Malaysian goddess Lin Minchen starred film premiered the night before. She was scheduled to attend but was absent at the last minute. Director Danny Pang Fat made a big fuss as she left the trouble "all over his pants" and the sponsors could be affected. Minchen explained that she could not come to Hong Kong due to passport problems, but then she was magically revealed online to have appeared outside the premiere, and suddenly became "Liar Chen"! Yesterday she explained again that she rushed to Hong Kong because she found her passport, which seemed to be more fantastical than the plot of the movie!
Director Pang Fat, Jessica Chan Yee Chun, Yvette Chan Shing Yu and Kiki Tam Kei Kei attended the premiere of the movie HAUNTING CALL (SAU GEI GEIN GWAI) in Tsim Sha Tsui the night before, but the lead actress of the film, Lin Minchen, was absent at the last minute. Pang Fat's plans were messed up and he was quite upset! When he was asked why Minchen was absent during the interview, he said, "I heard that her passport was missing. (That's interesting.) Yes! I thought it was pretty interesting too! I don't know where she is! In short, she had no passport so she couldn't come. (Do you think it's weird?) It's stranger than making a ghost movie! Maybe the passport saw ghosts! (Will Minchen attend audience appreciation events later?) I don't dare to answer you, she said that she would be here today! Only two or three hours ago she said that she couldn't come. Now it's all over my pants. This has never happened to me in my film career so far." Referring to Minchen's recent relationship with MIRROR member Edan Lui Cheuk On, did she lose her passport because she was caught up? He said, "Is she dating? I haven't asked her again. She wouldn't lose her passport from dating, right? If she did it's really love." Earlier Pang Fat ran into financial troubles over the care for his cancer stricken wife, owing HK$ 2 million in debt and almost declared bankruptcy. He said that has already resolved, as long as he had movies to make he was fine. Currently he is directing a Josie Ho Chiu Yee starred film. He revealed that his wife continued to fight, live well everyday and let everything to Heaven.
With the lead actress suddenly absent, Yvette Chan Shing Yu, who was making her film debut, bared her back to support the show. Speaking of dressing sexily, she said, "Because the weather just happened to be not so cold." Regarding Minchen's absence, she said, "She were there at the Malaysia promotion. It sounded like a few problems kept her from returning in time. Maybe there would a second premiere somewhere, which will be announced. (Would you ask her if she would come back for audience appreciation events?) I can ask, but sometimes there is no way to avoid something unexpected."
With her absence upsetting the director, Minchen also alertly "knelt down" on social media networks, claiming to fail to board the plane due to passport problems, and apologized to reporters, organizers, production companies, sponsors and shopping center teams. However she did not mention Pang Fat by name; however, soon after apologizing, she abruptly deleted the words about the related flight. It turned out that when the team entered the theater to watch the show, before the show ended Minchen was caught outside the shopping center where the premiere was held. She even took a photo with fans, as online criticism called her "Liar Girl"!
The incident became bigger and bigger, and Minchen explained the picture on social media networks again. "I was about to fly to Hong Kong from Taipei to attend the premiere, but I lost my passport on the way. I quickly notified the organizers. I really blame myself. I am glad that my passport was still found. I also rushed to the theater with the fastest flight, and I am glad that I can also meet a group of fans and friends who came to support me! This is a movie that the team and I put a lot of heart into making, I cannot regret being unable to attend the premiere more. Everyone please support HAUNTING CALL."
Regarding Minchen's apology statement, Pang Fat said, "At least she has an explanation with the staff and sponsors, (her absence) really messed things up and many people suffered." When asked about Minchen's sudden reappearance in Hong Kong, he said, "It's magical, earlier she said that she didn't have a passport so she couldn't come. Yet after the media interviewed me, maybe she saw something was wrong or the director was upset, she was able to find the passport and said that she would try to come to the scene as fast as possible. She also arrived in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong very quickly; but because everyone already went inside, too many people and event arrangements were involved, and the publicity company and sponsors didn't want her to appear." Reportedly the sponsorship of her premiere venue was due to the fact that Minchen would attend, but she did not show in the end, and the film company might have to pay part of the cost. As for Minchen, the gossip did not affected her as she was seen at the NBA celebrity game in Macau last night.
