Sylvia Chang Ai-chia attended the special reading and sharing session of the new book "Daughter" yesterday, and shared the production experience with the audience that went to the movie DAUGHTER'S DAUGHTER. Eugenie Liu Yi Er, who played her daughter in the film, was present to show her support.
Chang Ai-chia said that the book was written when she felt inspired during the filming, and wrote her thoughts on the back of the notice paper everyday for 3 months with a prequel to the characters in the film and some essays on her own experiences. The film received a good response when it was released in Taiwan, was she confident about the Hong Kong box office? She said, "I have always had little to no confidence in dramatic films. Hong Kong people have little interest, but I am very confident that the audience will not be disappointed after watching it."
Speaking of the loss of the Golden Horse Awards to the junior Chung Suet Ying, Chang Ai-chia said that she was not unhappy. "Why would I be unhappy? I have so much confidence in myself even now, and I am so happy that the next generation can win awards. I also feel that the young girls should have more. Although I haven't seen her award-winning film, I believe she must have acted well." She said that after decades of acting, if she took gains and losses too seriously they would instead be an obstacle. "I don't act to win awards, but to play the role well. I believe that every viewer who comes to see this movie is also a judge, and the audience's comments are the most important thing for everyone."
Chang Ai-chia's mother was admitted to the hospital with a fall at home earlier. She said that Mama has been discharged from the hospital. "Recently I am very tired. Taking care of the elderly is hard. My mother is in her 90s, and has fallen many times. She has fallen 3 times in the past 5 months, and she has almost 24 hours a day special care, but if with slightly less attention she would fall. I take care of her almost every day, which is what a daughter should do." Steven Liu Chia-chang and Chiung Yao passed away one after another. She was not too familiar with Chiung Yao in private, but she has been in two of her works. She was very familiar with Liu Chia-chang, and felt that the deaths of the two was the end of an era. They really had a great influence in that era.
