[2025.04.23] NO HONG KONG FILM IN THE TOP THREE OF THE HONG KONG EASTER BOX OFFICE

The Hong Kong film industry is in a cold winter. Hong Kong people traveled during the Easter holiday, which has seriously affected the box office as it fell by more than 60% in comparison with last year. Yesterday, the Hong Kong Box Office Co., Ltd. announced the box office for the Easter schedule (April 18th-21st), with a total box office of $13,476,058 in Hong Kong and Macau (Hong Kong accounting for $12,675,957). When compared with the total box office of $38,363,241 in the same period last year (Hong Kong accounted for $36,848,880), the drop was 64.87% (Hong Kong box office fell 65.6%). The operating environment of Hong Kong cinemas continued to be difficult.

The highest box office of the Easter season was the Hollywood movie A MINECRAFT MOVIE, which collected $3,075,475 (Hong Kong and Macau box office) in 4 days. In second place was the animated film FLOW, and WARFARE was in third. Hong Kong film PEG O' MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) extended version ranked 4th and 5th respectively, with PEG O' MY HEART fetching $1,244,159 and the latter $1,154,524.
