Veronica Yip Yuk Hing's mother passed away on the 9th at the age of 89. Hing Hing continued to work on her Lunar New Year film despite the sorrow as she kept the news to herself. She tearfully spoke to TVB Entertainment News Station and said that her mother's passing saddened her very much but she was already mentally prepared. She believed that her mother went to a good place and no longer had to suffer from illness and pain. She also saw the people who she wanted to see and said what she wanted to say, so she left peacefully. Hing Hing felt lucky that the negative news about her husband's failed investment did not surface until after her mother's passing so her mother did not have to worry.
Hing Hing said that although her mother would not be able to see it, she would do her best on the Lunar New Year. She did not regret returning to Hong Kong for the movie and was happy to be with her mother when her mother passed.
