The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) was a critical and commercial hit in the Mainland as it set numerous new box office records. So far after four weeks in release it continued to be the single week champion as its overwhelmed many competitive films. As of two days ago, its latest Mainland box office receipt has already reached 1.1 billion RMB. Industry insiders expect that JOURNEY will very likely overtake LOST IN THAILAND's 1.26 billion yuan RMB and even further pass foreign film AVTAR's 1.36 billion RMB box office to rule the Mainland film market.
