The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) was released in the Mainland on February 10. Although it has faced many foreign films' strong competition, JOURNEY last week still made 140 million yuan RMB and continued to be the national film box office champion. Its cumulative box office has already broken 1.2 billion yuan RMB, very close to Mainland film LOST IN THAILAND's 1.264 billion yuan box office record. JOURNEY box office originally would leave cinemas in the middle of this month, but now its run has been extended to April 7. With almost a month everyone believed that JOURNEY will definitely exceed LOST's box office.
