One of Anita Mui Yim Fong's fan clubs, Mui Nation, will unveil the "Daughter of Hong Kong Mui Yim Fong" bronze statue at the Tsim Sha Tsui Avenue of Stars at 7PM Friday to commemorate Ah Mui's lifetime of excellent achievements and contribution to the society. Ah Mui's friends have been invited to attend the unveiling ceremony.
Famous sculptor Professor Cao Chong'en created the bronze statue, which was around two meters tall. Made with purple bronze, it featured Mui Yim Fong's forward, history making and balanced feminine image. With Professor Cao's art expertise and sculpting experience in the art world, he explored this legendary Hong Kong woman of a generation. The bronze statue will be erected next to the Victoria Harbor as Mui Yim Fong's important symbol, so fans around the world, the general public and future generations would be able to remember her with this representative symbol. Professor Cao has been sculpting for over 60 years. In the past he mostly sculpted historical figures or recent luminary. Their images were easier to handle as he only had to imitate certain photos for results. Yet the most difficult over the years has been sculpting the Mui Yim Fong bronze statue because she was not the average martyr or heroine, her image was ever changing. Thus he spent a very long time to repeatedly make changes.
