The Lunar New Year has always been great for a family outing at the movies. Every year many films would be released for the Lunar New Year so everyone would be able to have a cheerful new year. Yet this year due to the Wuhan pneumonia outbreak's rapid deterioration, the government kept urging people not to go to crowded place. Even the movie business has been affected.
Movies that were scheduled for the Mainland Spring Festival release all retreated. As for the 4 Lunar New Year Hong Kong film releases, including the Carlos Chan Ka Lok and Gladys Li Ching Kwan starred YOU ARE THE ONE (NGOR DIK SHUN POON NAM YAU), Dayo Wong Tze Wa and Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) starred THE GRAND GRANDMASTER (MUK DOI JUNG SI), the Julian Cheung Chi Lam and Chrissie Chau Sau Na starred ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2020 (GA YAU HEI SI 2020) and the Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred ENTER THE FAT DRAGON (FEI LUNG GOR GONG), GRAND GRANDMASTER that Wong Tze Wa sold a home to fund the production was the sole success. After six days in release it already had over HK$ 20 million at the box office. Seemingly people online would have hope to get Tze Wa his home back. As for the other three films the performance was average. ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2020 made over HK$ 5 million, YOU ARE THE ONE and ENTER THE FAT DRAGON for now made around HK$ 3 million. The Robert Downey Jr. starred DOLITTLE made HK$ 9.3 million and SPIES IN DISGUISE made almost HK$ 6 million.
