The fresh out of the oven Asian Film Award Best Actor
Tony Leung Chiu Wai two nights ago continued to express that he never
thought about winning the award back stage. "My mind is a blank, I
am very surprised. (Have you had any exchange with your opponents?)
Not yet, I hope later at the after party I would be able to. Actually
I really like the performance of DECISION TO LEAVE and DRIVE MY CAR's
lead actors. (How would you celebrate?) I would call the director."
As for DRIVE MY CAR's lead actor Hidetoshi Nishijima, he conceded to
Wai Jai. "To be able to be on the same stage with him and Hung Kam Bo
is a honor. I grew up watching Leung Chiu Wai's movies. (Leung Chiu
Wai said that he has seen your movie, and felt that he might not have a
chance to win.) Really? He has seen my movie, I am already very
pleased."
BROKER's Best Director Hirokazu Kore-eda said that he did not
attend for the award. "This time is the film industry event's return
after the pandemic. It has brought together many Asian filmmakers. I
hope to be able to have exchanges with everyone in person. (You have
made French and Korean films, would you make a Chinese film?) The
next one is already set to be Japanese, of course I want to work with
Hong Kong and the Mainland's outstanding actors -- especially Leung
Chiu Wai."
