Suet Nei passed away from pancreatic cancer two days ago. Her husband Tang Chia fell to his death last month as the couple passed away within a dozen or so days.

The husband of veteran artist Suet Nei, Tang Chia (Tong Kai) fell to his death on the 23rd of last month. Less than two weeks later, Suet Nei also died of pancreatic cancer the day before yesterday. Her family issued an obituary yesterday. "Our beloved Mr. Tang Chia (originally named Wong Tong) passed away on June 23 at the age of 88. Mr. Tang Chia's wife, Ms. Suet Nei (originally named Lee Chiu Shun), passed away at the hospital on July 3 at the age of 78 due to pancreatic cancer." A joint funeral would be held for them and the wake would begin on July 14th.

Suet Nei was active as a famous Cantonese film female martial art star in the 60s and 70s. Her representative works included THE DARK HEROINE MU LANHUA in 1966, THE SNOWFLAKE SWORDS (SUET FA SUN GIM) and PARAGON OF SWORD AND KNIFE (TIN GIM JUET DOH). She retired after marrying Tang Chia (Tong Kai) in 1969 and immigrated to Canada. They fell in love while on the set of THE DARK HEROINE MU LANHUA and Suet Nei was the one who took the initiative to pursue him, wed in 1969 due to her pregnancy and had two sons. She made a comeback in 1997 and joined TVB, playing Aunt Mei in SECRET OF THE HEART (TIN DEI HO CHING), Black Rose in OLD TIME BUDDY -- TO CATCH THIEF (LAN HING LAN DAI JI SUN TAM LEE KEI), Lee Bik Chun in AT THE THRESHOLD OF AN ERA (CHONG SAI GEI) and left a deep impression with all of them. In 2013 Suet Nei received the TVB "Outstanding Actor Award", but rarely appeared in public after 2020 when she announced her retirement. The drama STORY OF ZOM-B (SIK NO SONG B) became her farewell work.

Suet Nei and Tong Kai were married for 56 years. She once said that she was fortunate to have a husband who tolerated her, and Tong Kai was also known as "the tag-a-long husband". The two became a recognized model couple in the circle. Suet Nei due to hereditary otosclerosis was losing her ability to hear, so Tong Kai was by her side all the time to be her "human hearing aid" to translate and communicate with in public. Suet Nei attended a gathering with her husband in August last year and was in okay condition at the time, but reportedly she has been hospitalized for pancreatic cancer for a long time in recent years.
