She faced death with an open mind, "With life and death those who should come would come, and those who should leave would leave. If the higher-ups give you a notice, you go to work; if not, they just take the notice back and time for goodbye. It's very simple." Tormented by illness, Leung Oi's health deteriorated rapidly. In the 1960s she married Cantonese film director Tso Kea (originally named Wong Tso Kea) and once enjoyed a wealthy life. It is said that at her peak, she had three workers and a driver. However due to the impact of the 1967 riots, she fell into bankruptcy and subsequently returned to the factory to make a living.
In the 1970s Leung Oi joined TVB, often playing maid roles and earning the title of 'Official Maid.' She worked hard acting to support her son Wong Sam's study in the UK, then immigrated to Canada. Her husband passed away there in 1997. In 2000 Leung Oi returned to Hong Kong and joined Asia Television. In her later years Leung Oi faced hardships. In 2019 she fell and was injured, and soon after she was further devastated by the death of her son from heart disease. In her later years, she gradually withdrew from the spotlight and lived alone in Hong Kong to recuperate. In 2025 she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and moved to a Shenzhen nursing home.
