[2026.07.03] NIGHT KING TOPS THE HONG KONG AND MACAU FILM BOX OFFICE WITH OVER HK$ 110 MILLION

The Hong Kong Box Office Co. Ltd. announced today that for the first half of 2026 (January 1st to June 30th, 2026), the total number of first-run film releases in Hong Kong and Macau is 142. Hong Kong films account for 17 and non-Hong Kong films for 125. The total box office revenue from Chinese and foreign language films is HK$ 702,428,079 (HK$ 664,012,623 in Hong Kong). Compared to HK$ 563,486,945 (HK$ 531,499,944 in Hong Kong) in the same period last year, box office revenue rose by about 24.66%.

The summer holiday season has just begun, and many family- friendly films are in release enthusiastically. In the second half of the year, many high-quality blockbuster films from both domestic and foreign sources will also hold court. Hopefully the box office figures for the summer vacation and the second half of the year will continue the strong momentum from the first half.

The top five highest-grossing Hong Kong films in the first half of 2026 include the top film NIGHT KING (YEH WONG) with over HK$ 118 million. The Terrance Lau Chun Him, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Tony Leung Ka Fai starred COLD WAR 1994 (HONG JING 1994) with around HK$ 38.07 million after 2 months in release came in second. The MIRROR member Edan Lui Cheuk On and Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) starred SNOWBALL ON A SUNNY DAY (GUM DOR BO) with HK$ 16.4 million came in third. The MIRROR member Anson Kong Yip Sun and ANSONBEAN Chan Ngai Sun starred WE'RE NOTHING AT ALL (NGOR MOON BUT SI SUP MOR) made around HK$ 12.35 million; and the Wong Yau Nam and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin starred CIAO, UFO (JOI GEIN UFO) made around HK$ 10.7 million. As of June 30th, NIGHT KING has earned $ 118,105,533.

As for the top five highest-grossing non-Hong Kong films in the first half of the year, they are AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH with over HK$ 40.61 million, SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE with over 36.62 million, TOY STORY 5 after 6 days in release reached 33.49 million, ZOOTOPIA 2 had around 29.88 million and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 over HK$ 26.73 million. Only in theaters for six days, TOY STORY 5 has already earned $33,499,241 in a solid performance.
