Donnie Yen Chi Tan appeared on a Cable interview and talked about playing Ip Man again as well as his childhood and family. The host could not help but praise the rousing success of Chi Tan's earlier Mainland underwear ad campaign. Chi Tan proudly said, "The advertiser approached me of course because I have the goods to wear it well. (how can you look good with just a pair of underwear?) It really is congenital."

Does Chi Tan want to win Best Actor? Chi Tan felt that another award would only be another item to be displayed at home. He felt the most important was still the box office. He said, "An award without any viewer is useless!" As for playing Ip Man again, Chi Tan honestly said that he felt some pressure because IP MAN started a fever and was his career turning point, possibly his representative work. During IP MAN 2 he often suffered insomnia because of that, as he was constantly thinking about how to perform even better. Sometimes he would call director Wilson Yip Wai Shun in the middle of the night to discuss how to be able to play better.

About rumors of dispute with Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Chi Tan stated firmly that it was impossible because Sammo was his elder. He has always admired how Sammo fought so hard despite being so fat, that he was able to flip with several hundred pounds. He was the only one in the world to be able to. Chi Tan's mother opened a martial art school in Chinatown. Chi Tan not only studied at his mother's gym but also studied other styles at other schools. He thought that his mother would not find out, but once during a Lunar New Year Chinatown parade he accidentally demonstrated another school's style and surprised his mother. Because Chi Tan often traveled between different martial art schools in Chinatown, in childhood he already knew fellow Chinatown martial art student Tsang Chun Wa. Chi Tan praised Tsang Chun Wa's Hung Fist and considered him a master at it.

Chi Tan also thought that he could play comedy well, but definitely no bed scene because he did not want his children to see his father's past bed scenes. Chi Tan also stressed that he respected his wife but was not "afraid of the old lady". He even praised her as mature, generous and beautiful. When they have a difference of opinion, Chi Tan honestly said that he would accommodate his wife because he is the man.
