The Berlin Film Festival will take place between February 10 and 20. The Hong Kong Film Development Council representative and a dozen or so Hong Kong directors including Alex Law Kai Yui, Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting, Ivy Ho (Ong Sai), Barbara Wong Chun Chun, Yanyan Mak Yuen Yan, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Clement Cheng Si Kit and others will attend and recommend many low budgets Hong Kong life reflecting films like ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU), CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI), GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) and LOVER'S DISCOURSE (LUEN YUN SHUI YU) as well as new directors overseas. Hong Kong Film Development Council Secretary General Wellington Fung Wing expressed that currently local low budget film development strategy is "rooted in South China, broadcast to the entire nation". In addition, a foreign film site reported that Wong Kar Wai's new film THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) after airing its trailer earlier at the Berlin Film Festival is already in negotiation with an U.S. buyer over North American rights.
