The Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Leung Ka Shu, Chung Shu Kai directed new Shaw film FORTUNE BUDDIES (GAING CHAU FUK LUK SAU) two nights ago held its Hong Kong premiere. Actors included Yuen Siu Cheung, Johnson Lee Si Jit, Wong Cho Nam, Maggie Cheung Ho Yi, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Fala Chen, Michael Tse Tin Wa, Samantha Ko Hoi Ning, Mag Lam Yun Tung and others dressed up for the occasion. Elaine Lok Yi Ling, Nat Chan Pak Cheung and Wong Hung Sau also came in support.
TVB reportedly banned Sit Hoi Kei from any promotion due to her five major record label affiliation. Two nights ago she appeared for the first time to promote the film. TVB not only arranged for reporters to interview Sit Hoi Kei but Ms. Lok also approached her to chat after the toast. When they posed for photos though, Ms. Lok brought in Fala Chen as well. In addition, the Gods signed three conditional promise certificate that included "if the box office breaks 10 million, I will impersonate whatever I will be asked to", "the entire family gets a belly full of laughs, or I get fired", and "Spread the Hong Kong spirit, all for one and one for all" in order to spread their comedic color to every corner of Hong Kong.
Chi Wai recently has been busy as a Shaw producer. Some said that he was at the helm of Shaw. Chi Wai joked, "I don't have a job at TVB, so I found something to do. (Yet you are making every film!) This time also had Leung Ka Shu. Later we will work apart. He will make LAUGHING GOR again while I make two movies with (Bosco) Wong Chung Chak, in one he will play a mobster and the other with King Kong. It will be a little like the old film CURRY AND PEPPER (GA LEI LAT JIU)." Will he also be in charge of the Lunar New Year film next year? Chi Wai said that it has not been decided yet, but next month the first film will start. He even complimented Wong Chung Chak as very capable. Was he or Raymond Lam Fung better? Chi Wai said, "Both are good, but Wong Chung Chak hasn't been in too many movies. (Are you afraid that someone would be jealous that you are supporting him?) It's not support, it's just suitable. He is popular too!" Did he asked for his rumored girlfriend Myolie Wu Hung Yi to be the lead actress? Chi Wai said that definitely not and the lead actress was still under consideration.
In a low cut dress Ko Hoi Ning said that this time was not considered sexy. She only wanted to have something in the front and back to look at. Speaking of her kiss scene with Si Jit that made otaku rather jealous, Ko Hoi Ning said, "Really? This was my first time, I was pretty nervous. I only found out on the day of the shoot, actually it wasn't added last minute. The script just came out slowly. Si Jit was great. He knew I was nervous so he chatted with me in particular and taught me how to be more natural. Finally we got it in one take." Si Jit robbed many of their first on screen kiss. Was he satisfactory? She said that he was decent Because Si Jit knew how to act, was professional and nice, she learned a lot; did she know his girlfriend Spring Roll? She said, "I have seen her at work. (Was any advanced warning required?) No, it only happened due to the movie, a work necessity. (Would you like to kiss someone more handsome?) To each it own, I feel he is very handsome and talented."
The fresh out of the oven Miss Hong Kong was said to resemble Fala Chen. She congratulated her and watched the pageant herself. The top three were her favorites, and Rebecca Zhu performed decently. Was she worried about competition later? Fala confidently said, "I welcome it. I am not afraid of comparison. The company needs new faces too. This is good, positive competition." Fala in the film played a mob sister and Cheung Jai's former wife. The character was very rough and easily threw tantrums at Cheung Jai by hitting and slapping him. Could she be rough? Fala said, "I tried to display my roughest side, but the director thought it wasn't enough. So we shot it many times before success."
