The Paciwood Entertainment and Nandu Media organized 1st Chinese Short Film Media Award press conference and the 2013 New Director Take Off Project launch ceremony took place yesterday in Guangzhou. Leon Lai Ming led Janice Man Wing Shan, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) in attendance and announced the 2012 to 2013 competition has officially begun.

This event theme was "Fire, Shadow", which implied young people's new idea spark and moonlight seemed to have left a trace in time. Leon hoped through the contest to gradually build an excellent director talent pool, select and promote young Chinese film creators for them to have even more creative resources and opportunities. Leon said that this time they clicked with Nandu right now because they had a same idea, as they hoped that Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan young people who were interested in directing work and had directing potential would have the chance to display their endless creativity. Janice Man said that to make a good movie, the director was very important. Thus she absolutely supported this contest. Originally she was working elsewhere on a new film, but she still deliberately came to attend the press conference.

In addition, the press conference invited guests Leon, Janice Man, Aarif, director Roy Chow Hin Yeung, Tsai Yueh-Hsun, Gao Qunshu to conduct a clapper board ceremony. A large director take board was on hand. As everyone was counting down to the clap, Leon suddenly discovered Janice Man only stuck her right arm under the clapper. Luckily Leon noticed before it came down and immediately told her to move her arm. Janice Man still had no idea what happened. "I really didn't know! I am very scared! Because a reporter told me to look at the camera, I didn't notice that my hand almost became a human sandwich. I really have to thank Leon for saving me."
