[2012.11.03] STEPHEN CHOW LOSES APPEAL AGAINST KITTY ZHANG

The Shanghai court rejected Hong Kong film star Stephen Chow Sing Chi's appeal in pursuit of 14 million yuan RMB in compensation from Sing Girl Kitty Zhang Yuqi yesterday, meaning that Zhang will not need to pay 14 million yuan to Chow Sing Chi's Star Overseas.

Earlier Zhang Yuqi and Chow Sing Chi's Star Overseas company had a contract termination dispute and ended up in court. In mid July the Mainland court ruled in favor of the plaintiff and Zhang Yuqi had to pay HK$3 million to Star Overseas. Earlier Star Overseas filed an appeal to demand 14 million yuan RMB from Zhang Yuqi and the court rejected the appeal. Star Overseas appealed again. Yesterday afternoon Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court's final verdict ruled to uphold the original ruling and rejected Star Overseas' appeal request.

At the same time, Zhang Yuqi announced that the founding of a workshop and was no longer signed with a manager. She would fully handle her own jobs and ask the lawyer to reiterate that if anyone interferes her performance further she will reserve the right for legal action.
