Famous Mainland director Chen Kaige two nights ago attended a Hong Kong University forum to discuss his views on the current film industry. Chen Kaige said, "China film market's continuing expansion is a good thing. Film professionals in order to make money make money according to audience taste is also understandable, but they should seriously consider the goal of the film production and what message does the film want to express." Some Hong Kong film productions that were released in the Mainland saddened him, as he felt some Hong Kong film professionals in order to please Mainland viewers gave up Hong Kong authenticity and made their movies the worst of both worlds.
