Film and television tycoon Sir Run Run Shaw (Uncle Six) passed away on the 7th. Services were held last Thursday and his funeral the next day, as his family bid its final farewell to Uncle Six in a low key manner. To remember Uncle Six's contributions to the community, TVB today organizes the "Mr. Siu Yat Fu memorial event" at the Tseung Kwan O Shaw Studios. The hall will be decorated in beige. From 10AM to 6PM, friends of Uncle Six and the general public will be able to pay their respect.
TVB enterprise communication assistant director Tsang Sing Ming yesterday said that Chief Executive C.Y. Leung, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region director Zhang Xiaoming and many important politicians, Legislative Council members will attend the memorial. Also expected will be show business, business and society luminaries and educational groups, medical organizations, cultural and art groups, community charity groups that have received Uncle Six's assistance. Thus the Shaw Studios have already set up many studios to ease the traffic flow. Tsang Sing Ming reiterated, "Mr. Shaw lived a simple life and did not pay attention to formalities. Thus attendees of the memorial do not need to wear mourning clothes, black tie. No floral arrangement will be accepted."
Although TVB did not halt production for the memorial, it has already asked certain artists to guide guests into the hall. It also arranged for shuttle buses to provide transportation to artists who are interested in paying their respect between the Tseung Kwan O Television City and the Shaw Studios. It will also provide press videos to domestic and overseas media that will cover Uncle Six's memorial.
