The film GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS (GUM GAI SSS) legged out the Lunar New Year slot. From its Lunar New Year's Eve release to the Lunar 2nd, its three day cumulative box office was HK$13,512,562; in second place FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON) made HK$13,338,293. With the Sandra Ng Kwan Yu starred and produced GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS's good performance, Peter Chan Ho Sun's head of the family position was in danger. He wrote online, "She is worth more money than me! Sigh! From now on I can hold my head high at home even less."

Kwan Yu was not only excited about the GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS box office success, during the shoot she even got a bonus as she received a gift of calligraphy from Andy Lau Tak Wa. Wa Jai in the GOLDEN CHICKEN series was the pillar of all three films, in GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS he continued to play the Chief Executive. On the set he wrote with ink the word CHICKEN to wish for the film to be a big hit. Kwan Yu next to the Wa Jai written "Chicken" wrote a few words, claiming to in the elementary school level she was shaky. Wa Jai reminded her to relax just like her in person, and write wherever she wanted to. Kwan Yu wrote three "chicken" characters as a contrast to Wa Jai's large character "chicken". She said with satisfaction that the work had an artwork feel. Wa Jai said that with the New Spring approaching many friends asked him to write banners for their home decoration. Kwan Yu could not wait to claim his "chicken" as her own and said that she would frame it to brighten up her home, which could bring speculative offers at any time.

GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS had mixed reviews on the street, some said that it was less than GOLDEN CHICKEN and GOLDEN CHICKEN II; a letter to director Matthew Chow Hoi Kwong flowed around the internet, scolding at GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS for being comedy film packaged "brain washing". Tony Leung Ka Fai played a Che Guevara tee shirt wearing council member who took his HK$80,000 monthly salary at the Legislative Council but would be done for the day after throwing stuff around, which fell under defamation suspicion; some replied that no one should take a comedy film so seriously. Chow Hoi Kwong also responded to criticism on facebook. "I absolutely accept criticism, but can we not compare it with the old stuff? Move on! Hong Kong is where it is today because it has too many complacent people!"

Artist Ivana Wong Yuen Chi's GOLDEN CHICKEN SSS character received a lot of praises. Recently in a relationship, she earlier even booked a show with a group of friends from the radio. She also happily said that because of the film she got along famously with "Little Chickens" Michelle Wai Si Nga, Jinny Ng Yuek Hei, Rainky Wai Yu Sum and others and set off a lot of spark.
