Pakho Chau recently was again swept up into a political storm as he was dubbed "blue god" online. His comments upset many fans, who wanted to cut ties with him. His Instagram account lost over 40,000 followers within days. Originally he agreed to attend the Commercial Radio Ultimate Music Chart Award on January 1st, but earlier he was rumored to have suddenly notified Commercial Radio that he would be absent due to work. Commercial Radio's public relations department confirmed to the media that Pakho Chau would not be able to attend the award show "due to work". Some speculated that he was avoiding appearances during this sensitive period, perhaps he would only appear at the Jade Solid Gold awards out of all the music awards.
