    HAPPY TOGETHER premiered in competition at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, where Wong Kar Wai became the first Hong Kong recipient of the festival's Best Director Award. In 2017, L'Immagine Ritrovata commenced on the 4K digital restoration of the film in Bologna and Hong Kong under the supervision of Wong Kar Wai. The 4K restored version had its world premiere at New York's Film at Lincoln Center earlier.
