A woman named Law Kee (Alice) filed by in the High Court yesterday (27th) for liquidation of Mandarin Film Productions Co., Ltd., the producer of films such as the IP MAN film series. According to the Judiciary's website, the case has been scheduled for hearing on September 3 this year.
According to its website, Mandarin Film Productions was established in 1991 as a film production, distribution and film printing company. Mandarin Film has produced more than 100 films, including THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR (BAK FAT MOR NUI JUEN), THE PHANTOM LOVER (YEH BOON GOR SING), EIGHTEEN SPRINGS (BOON SUN YUEN), DRY WOOD FIERCE FIRE (GONG CHAI LIT FOR), FLASH POINT (DOH FOR SIN) and the IP MAN film series. According to data, Mandarin Film Productions is now one of the subsidiaries of the listed company Keyne Ltd., which has two directors, one of whom is Zhang Li, executive director and chief executive officer of Keyne Ltd.
Raymond Wong Pak Ming's Mandarin Motion Pictures Limited issued a solemn statement on its official social platform yesterday. "In response to reports today (yesterday) that Mandarin Films Limited has petitioned for liquidation, we hereby solemnly declare that Mr. Wong Pak Ming has sold and withdrawn from the management of the company as early as 2009. All the affairs of the company henceforth have nothing to do with Mr. Wong Pak Ming, and that company has no relations to Mr. Wong Pak Ming's Mandarin Motion Pictures Limited. In case of any false reports and speculations, Mr. Wong Pak Ming and Mandarin Motion Pictures Limited hereby reserve the rights for any legal action."
