The topical movie SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN) was released on October 1st. Its box office in Hong Kong and Macau was nearly HK$ 2 million on the first day due to the national day Movie Fiesta Half-Price Spectacular, but only received nearly 600,000 on the second day of its release the day before with a cumulative box office of about 2.6 million over two days. SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT was publicized coldly before its release, recently its official website of the movie on social platforms has introduced the characters individually, in addition to the protagonists they also included Wilson Lam Chun Yin, Alex To Tak Wai and Nina Paw Hee Ching so the audience could get an understanding before going to see the movie. Yesterday a 21-minute interview with Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) and a highlight footage were released, in which Takeshi Kaneshiro personally deconstructed the character setting of "Lee Mo Tung" in the film, why he took the role of this villain, the scenes that were memorable to him during filming, and the feeling of working with the two major Best Actors Tony Leung Ka Fai and Sean Lau Ching Wan for the first time.

In the video Takeshi Kaneshiro shared his understanding and setting of the role of Lee Mo Tung, as well as his belief that the filming was based on Lee Mo Tung's personality and speed of speech to speak Italian dialogue; and teaching a young drug addict a lesson in the kitchen to show the characters' style of doing things. These two scenes were the most difficult.

Takeshi Kaneshiro specifically mentioned that he was deeply honored to work with the two major Best Actors Leung Ka Fai and Lau Ching Wan for the first time. He said with a smile, "We have not met before because of making movies, but we have only met a few times at events. So this time I was very happy to see Brother Ka Fai for the first time. I hugged him and finally I could tell him, you are the movie star I grew up watching! He is a very experienced actor, very active and cheerful on the set, as soon as the camera is cut he would keep telling jokes to everyone. I also admire Brother Ka Fai for spending two hours for special effect makeup for the role every time. I only have two important scenes with Brother Ching Wan. In the scene at the gambling table, when he looked at me with that look I would be afraid. I admire Brother Ching Wan's performance, I also like this scene very much!"

In addition, the audience who has been looking forward to SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT for a long time could not wait to support it at the movies on October 1st. The film was screened in 375 theaters in Hong Kong and Macau on October 1st, attracting nearly 46,000 viewers, with an occupancy rate of about 80% for each show. Even with the half price discount at all Hong Kong cinemas that day and a category III rating that restricted viewers to those age 18 or above, the film still received almost HK$ 2 million at the box office and drastically pulled away from the second place film by over 800,000. Not only did it become the day's box office champion, but it also crushed film releases of the same week at numbers of shows and admission rate.
