The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society yesterday announced the addition of Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) into its board as its vice chair. Cheung Ngai Ga has worked in film for over 30 years and become one of the most respected film professionals in Asia. In 1998 she participated in the Oscar winning film RED VIOLIN and directed the Berlin Film Festival selection 20 30 40 to become international renowned.
Cheung Ngai Ga has also starred in many classics and was a publicly recognized outstanding actress. She also has directed many films. The International Film Festival Society chair stated that the addition of a film professional who is full of experience and talent like Cheung Ngai Ga to the board conceivably will assist the society's future rapid development with her unique understanding. Cheung Ngai Ga also stated that this unfamiliar post will be an enormous challenge to her, but she believed that this job is closely related to her career of the past 40 years. Thus she was very happy to accept the vice chair post of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society and will do her best.
