BACK TO THE PAST, the movie version of A STEP INTO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI), held the "Starlight Gala Premiere" yesterday on the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui and attracted many fans to look on. The pre-sale box office of BACK TO THE PAST in Hong Kong has been hot, reaching 1,460 shows on the opening day. Producer and star Louis Koo Tin Lok bluntly expressed his hope that the box office on the opening day would break the record of more than HK$ 7 million for THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK). Because the audience support has been extremely high, they hoped to achieve satisfactory results.
Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai) joined directors Ng Yuen Fai and Lai Chun Lung, as well as actors Raymond Lam Fung, Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen), Sonija Kwok Sin Nei, Joyce Tang Lai Ming, Bai Baihe, Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Kevin Chu Kam Yin, Timmy Hung Tin Ming, Fish Liew Chi Yu, Jimmy Au Sui Wai, Chan Kwok Bong, Eric Tsui Ho Cheong, etc., and action director Sammo Hung Kam Bo was also present to show his support. The scene attracted a large number of fans to raise the name of the idol to create momentum, among which Lam Fung's fans even dressed up as "Terracotta Warriors" and kept shouting "King".
The cast shared their interesting and unforgettable production experience on the stage. Hung Kam Bo had the rare opportunity to work with his three sons, Tin Ming, Tin Chiu, and Tin Cheung, and he praised his sons for being obedient and smart. Yet he was still slightly better than his sons. Hung Kam Bo smiled and said, "I'm very happy to film with Tin Ming and Tin Chiu, and Tin Cheung is behind the scenes. In working with the two directors, I can learn from the younger generation, make progress together. I don't know if we break through or not, as long as we don't break the pot (spoil the plot) we are fine!"
When Bai Baihe shared her filming experience with the actors on stage, she laughed and said that she was afraid that many people would be jealous. Because she was able to work with the original team, it was the most enjoyable moment. Suen Huen said that they would see each other normally, so they were very familiar with each other. Working with Goo Jai again, she would not have to worry too much.
Lam Fung said that the movie was released on the big screen after many years and still received support from the outside world. He felt very moved, and happy to have the additions of senior and new actors. The whole thing was very dreamy. He said, "Goo Jai taught me a lot back then, and he is still putting money in my pocket."
The last to appear, Goo Jai said that he was looking forward to the film from conception and development to release, and thanked the original author Wong Yi and the late Dick Liu Kai Chi, who participated in the performance. Only with him would there be the role of Dr. Wu. After that the actors presided over the premiere lighting ceremony together.
Goo Jai and Suen Huen were later interviewed together and talked about the pre-sale of BACK TO PAST in Hong Kong being very explosive. Goo Jai said that Malaysia was the same way. When asked if he was confident that it would break the opening day box office of more than HK$ 7 million of THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK)? Goo Jai said: "I hope so. Because many people support BACK TO THE PAST this time, I hope to have a satisfactory result." Speaking of the film's opening day with a total of 1,460 shows, the reporter laughed and pointed out that there would be 15 minutes a show -- running more frequently than the bus. Suen Huen also said that it was very exaggerated.
Goo Jai said that he would go to Guangzhou today for a count down and attend the audience appreciation screening, and then he would promote it in Foshan and Shenzhen. This time would also be the first New Year's Day he would not be in Hong Kong, but he would not take his parents with him. "No! My Pa can't walk too far, in addition there would be many people. If anything would happen it wouldn't be good. Safety comes first."
Speaking of him and Suen Huen being able to continue to promote as a couple, Goo Jai immediately emphasized that they were "on screen couples". As for online claims that only Suen Huen was able to tame him, Goo Jai joked, "Taming me is an achievement." Suen Huen joked, "I am so proud. My friends all say that they are very happy from seeing that. Actually everyone likes to watch him being abused."
With the release of the film, old videos of the actors in the film have been recovered, even Suen Huen's singing videos from many years ago? Suen Huen joked that she was very scared. "Actually there are many that I don't remember, I danced with the Grasshoppers but I don't remember. Of course I remember when I sang and forgot the lyrics. Thank you very much everyone, because I don't have many of the pictures. I watched many of them again online and cap(tured) a lot of my own photos, so I actually have to thank everyone. (People online think acting has hindered your singing?) In the next life, in this life it is a little late. Actually often times it is because they have no expectation, when they listen they would be pleasantly surprised. Yet with the identity of a singer, you would think that I sing so badly." With a good box office performance, would she make a dance version of "Destiny is the Highest" with Goo Jai? Suen Huen pointed out that having Goo Jai and Lam Fung was enough. In addition she has never heard that a TV series theme song would have so many versions, including English and dance versions. Thus she was very happy to be a part of it. Some of the television series cast were unable to make the movie. Would Koo Tin Lok consider adding them in a sequel? He said, "A movie's runtime is really limited. Everyone also need to understand that this movie is a continuation. Some characters may have already died in the television series. I of course hope that even more people would participate, but the space is limited."
Speaking of the fact that before the movie has even been released, some restaurants have taken the initiative to provide 10% off in assistance. Goo Jai said that he was very happy to receive the support of many people. Earlier he already felt strange when he heard foreigners sing "Destiny is the Highest" before. Would he go to the restaurant to thank the diners? Goo Jai said with a smile, "It's all a very good idea, but it would not be a surprise to talk about it now."
Raymond Lam Fung, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Joyce Tang Lai Ming and Sonija Kwok Sin Nei were asked if they would go to Guangzhou to thank the audience with Louis Koo Tin Lok on New Year's Eve? Cheung Kai Chung said he would not need to, as he would continue to stay in Hong Kong to thank the audience for his film GOLDEN BOY (GUM TUNG); but the other three said that they have reserved time to go together. Lam Fung even said that the New Year's Eve audience appreciation event would be rare, and everyone crossing into the New Year together would be very happy. Would Lam Fung bring his family to spend New Year's Eve together? He smiled and said, "My family is happy on its own, I am responsible for coming out to make a living."
Speaking of his confidence in the box office, Lam Fung said that he saw the national film schedule in Beijing a few days ago. BACK TO THE PAST exceeded 25%, which was quite powerful. He thanked everyone for their support, and hoped that it would be a good start. He said that of course he would charter cinemas to invite friends to see this movie privately, and his friends also said that they would buy tickets to see the movie. For example he has also invited many friends in the circle to watch the premiere that night, ultimately it was a major film event in Hong Kong.
Tang Lai Ming said that many people on TVB asked her for a ticket to watch the movie, but she insisted that everyone buy tickets to show their support. Regarding the rumor that Tang Lai Ming's former rumored boyfriend Derek Kok Ching Hung originally had a part in BACK TO THE PAST but fell through because of her, Lam Fung immediately provided escort. He pointed out that he and Kok Ching Hung were so familiar with each other, but even he has never heard of it. Tang Lai Ming said, "At first I thought I wouldn't have a part because I had to shoot a drama, and this drama had to leave Hong Kong for the shoot. Thank you TVB for releasing the dates." Lam Fung broke the news again that Tang Lai Ming and Jimmy Au Sui Wai were the two actors with the most difficulty with scheduling in the film.
Kwok Sin Nei was asked if she would let her daughter watch this movie? She laughed and said, "My daughter has only seen stills, because she doesn't like to watch my films. She feels that the one in the movie isn't me, and says that she wants the real Mommy because the real Mama is her buddy. (Do you know that because of the movie release, your ancient rumor with Koo Tin Lok have been stirred up?) I think that rumors should be passed down as rumors."
In addition, Au Sui Wai, Chan Kwok Bong and Wong Man Piu talked about the release of blind box flashcards for the movie BACK TO THE PAST. Chan Kwok Bong was said to be in 9 out of 10 boxes. He said that his students have instead said that getting him was very difficult. Au Sui Wai revealed that the TVB situation comedy LO AND BEHALF's Fan Yik Man also swept up 40 boxes of flashcards. "She got over 20 Lam Fung, 11 Chan Kwok Bong, 4 of mine and 1 of Wong Man Piu. Collecting all the actors would be very hard." When Wong Man Piu was filming the drama, Koo Tin Lok thought he looked like Jesus. He said that he was no match for Koo Tin Lok on or off screen as they constantly had bad takes while making the drama. "For 5 years friends have frequently asked when would the movie be released, now it would finally happen." Then the three of them said in unison that making this movie brought back all their memories.
During the interview with Sammo Hung Kam Bo and his son Timmy Hung Tin Ming, Tin Ming's younger son Hung King Hei (JT) came to join in the fun. He even said that he wanted all three generations to act together, but his grandfather Hung Kam Bo joked that he would vomit blood!
Hung Kam Bo was happy to say that this was the first time that his family of four have worked together. Tin Ming said that he has always wanted to have this opportunity, and thanked Koo Tin Lok for making it happen. The reporter laughed and pointed out that Hung Kam Bo praised his three sons on stage, but they were still not as good as their father. Tin Ming immediately said that how could they be better than him so easily! Hung Kam Bo said that he was not as handsome as his sons, gave Tin Ming's performance in the film a high score of 85 points, and pointed out that every actor's action scene surprised him. He would also tailor suitable stunts for each actor, especially when he saw Koo Tin Lok's performance in the movie PARADOX (SAT POR LONG.TAM LONG). He was not worried about how Koo Tin Lok would deal with the action scenes he designed.
When Hung Kam Bo and Tin Ming both expressed their expectation to work together as a family of four again, grandson JT suddenly stepped forward to join in the fun and kissed his grandfather Hung Kam Bo. Would they want all three generations in the same "film"? Tin Ming asked his son, "Is it okay?" JT nodded and even kicked to demonstrate that he could shoot action scenes, but Hung Kam Bo joked, "He (grandson) would be OK, I would be puking blood!" Tin Ming explained that because when working with his grandson, Grandpa "would not be able to scold him". Because once Grandpa slapped a table hard and loudly said that he had to sleep, JT has refused to go to Grandpa's house ever since. Referring to Tin Ming's move to Shenzhen, he said that because he has been working a lot in the mainland in recent years, his wife and sons really wanted to see him more. However Hung Kam Bo thought that his son has moved too far for it to be convenient for him to see his grandsons and buy things for them.
