A veteran film professional who once was brilliant on and off screen in the Hong Kong film industry and gave many great contributions, Fong Ying passed away at the age of 62 on January 13 2010 at the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital. As an actress, an art director, a costume designer, columnist and Hong Kong Film Art Association president, Fong Ying left her mark on the Hong Kong film industry and cultural world and will be deeply missed.
In Fong Ying's final days, she once said after cremation not to make any room for her and just to scatter her ashes on a beautiful place. If you miss you, put a stem of white flower at home or in the office then you will remember her. She was tastefully elegant with a carefree style that will be missed. Yesterday friends and family attended a memorial event at the Peninsula Hotel's Garden Suite as they gathered to remember this uniquely carefree yet tastefully elegant style of Fong Ying.
Yesterday the memorial event was based on Fong Ying's low key elegant style, with several photos of Fong Ying accompanied by Fong Ying's favorite white flower. Photos from Fong Ying's life were on continuous projection to share with everyone Fong Ying's memories. Yesterday attendees included Fong family representatives, Hong Kong Film Arts Association representatives, cultural and film industry friends Ivy Ling Po, Chin Han, Chin Ping, Allyson Chang Yen, Lisa Chiao Chiao, Kenneth Tsang Kong, Dang Siu-Yue, Shi Nansun, Kitty Yip Kit Hing, Tina Lau Tin Lan, William Tang Tat Chi and others. The event ended at 8 PM.
