The HK$200 million production THE ICEMAN COMETH 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) has turned Hong Kong upside down with lead actor Donnie Yen Chi Tan. Two nights ago lead actress Eva Huang Shengyi appeared as well.

Yen Chi Tan has been very busy as a director and an actor on his new film. Earlier he landed in costume in Causeway Bay for the shoot and the city was jam packed. Two nights ago the film moved to a Tsim Sha Tsui alley with many bars. the location was decorated for Halloween, thus extras appeared in different costumes. In a down jacket Yen Chi Tan and Huang Shengyi soon appeared and prepared for the performance.

Before the official shoot, the team bought a lot of street snacks like fish ball, shu mai and skewers and filled the table for the cast. With lemon tea in her hand Huang Shengyi and co-star Sukie Shek Wing Lei were drawn to the food. Huang Shengyi picked up a skewer and could not stop herself from stuffing her face while chatting with Shek Wing Lei.

Yen Chi Tan already had a bag of candy for himself as he chatted with the crew. He also did not turn anyone who asked for a photo away. Soon Chi tan removed his jacket and his costume was revealed. He stood in the center and performed, attracting many pedestrians to look on.

Shek Wing Lei, Jacqueline Chong Si Man and Mark Wu Yiu Fai guest starred in costumes. Chong Si Man in a wild kitten look was very eye catching. Director Law Wing Cheong and Chi Tan chatted before the shoot. With better communication the production went especially smooth.

In the story Chi Tan came from the past to modern times and appeared at a Halloween party, thus Chi Tan despite his costume remained undetected. Because Chi Tan has been frozen for 400 years, he was very hungry when he woke up. Seeing ramen at the party, he wolfed down 10 bowls and stacked the bowls high. Chi Tan had a noodle in his mouth, which was a super funny look. Chi Tan saw the people in ox and horse costumes getting close and worried that he went to Hell. Chi Tan kicked their chairs and they all fell onto the floor. At this moment Chi Tan ran into Huang Shengyi and fell in love at first sight.

[2013.02.01] TERESA MO AND SANDRA NG HAVE NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT FOR 19 YEARS

courtesy of on.cc

Teresa Mo Shun Kwan and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu both are Raymond Wong Pak Ming's Lunar New Year centers, but the last time they worked together was in the 1994 film CRAZY WOMEN (SOR DAI JEH WAN JUEN FUNG YUN YUEN). Sister Mo admitted to "breaking ice" with Kwan Yu. "When we were younger film productions were busy and rushed, we didn't have a lot of opportunities to chat. This time we ate together almost everyday. We both have become mothers and have endless topics. Kwan Yu even brought DVDs to exercise with all the actresses and assistants. I have never done that in all my years in movies."

Speaking of parenthood, Ronald Cheng Chung Kei who has become a father also have in depth experience. Sister Mo joked that she did not need to share any tip to her "son". "Chung Kei and I played mother and son in MR. CINEMA (LO GONG JING JUEN). Little Daughter in law is very attentive with her daughter. I am always making fun of Son, now he is already satisfied with holding two ladies. With life and acting he has already become more and mature and stable!"

Sister Mo's daughters are growing up. While family comes first she longed to challenge for the Best Actress award, but she would not deliberately increase production. Sister Mo said, "My younger daughter may be going to an university overseas, so I cherish our days together even more. A few more movies won't guarantee an award. Hitting it in one shot is the most important. I have to wait for directors to give me something to work with."

Speaking of the 10th anniversary of her good friend Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, Sister Mo would not have any special memorial. Yet whenever she remembered playing mahjong with Gor Gor she still would smile from the heart. "During the Lunar New Year we played for seven days and seven nights. Gor Gor's mind turned very quickly, we played slower. He would rush us with a rule in his hand."

Alan Tam Wing Lun earlier put on a mushroom wig and thick rimmed glasses to work on his Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 (2013 NGOR OI HK GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) in Mongkok. Although no one recognized him, the story required for me to sleep on cardboard on the street and for Ma Tai Lo to yell at him. Then they drew a crowd. Principal Tam even personally designed his street sleeping gestures with intense expression and without holding anything back.

[2013.02.01] MICHELLE WAI WANTS TO SHARE JOY WITH COMEDY

courtesy of on.cc

Artist Michelle Wai Si Nga returned to her original name. Adding her last name back to her stage name, she explained, "At first I thought an artist with a two word stage name would sound better and be easier when writing. Yet many often confused me with (Shiga) Lin Si Nga. once someone asked me, 'Is your last name Lin?' Actually the name was really confusing for people. My last name was Wai so I went back to Wai Si Nga!" Wai Si Nga recently worked on one of the stories in HARDCORE COMEDY (CHONG HAU MEI), which she felt was very challenging. "Actually the last year went very smoothly for me. At the beginning of the year I wished for a cosmetic ad campaign and it came true. My 2012 movies although might not be all leads for me, I had room to perform in every film. I have always wanted to make a comedy. The chance was hard to come by and this year I finally got it." Wai Si Nga admitted that comedy was hard, the first condition was a special face. Her face was not exaggerated enough, thus she could only spend more time on studying the character. "I hope to be able to be a successful comedy actress, for everyone to see me and laugh and to be able to share joy with everyone!"

Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Yoyo Mung Ka Wai registered their marriage in Tokyo on Monday. They returned to Hong Kong last night, locking hands as they stepped out of the airport. 50 reporters covered their arrived. When they heard congratulatory "Mr. Cheng, Mrs. Cheng" repeatedly, they smiled sweetly and often displayed their platinum wedding rings. The groom even joked, "The most exciting part of the wedding is seeing so many reporters at this moment."

When asked how they felt, Cheng Yi Kin took the initiative and answered, "We are very happy. First we have to thank friends who wish us well, but we are sorry that we couldn't invite all our friends to witness the wedding. However we will dine with friends later." Will they hold a make up wedding banquet? Ekin was surprised and said, "Again? No way!" They were moved to tears at the wedding. Ekin joked, "As long as they were happy tears it's OK!" As for the bride Yoyo's emotions, Ekin replied, "The most exciting part is this moment when we see so many reporters."

Ekin revealed that they chose to register their marriage in Japan because they went there for their first trip together. Was the wedding certificate in Japanese? He jokingly answered to be continued and will register in Hong Kong as well. What did Ekin promise Mung Ka Wai in their vows? He said that he would not publicly say it. As for friends who complained that he was too secretive and missed the chance to witness the ceremony, he pointed out that his friend would understand. Because he would handle different friends differently, for example he would take his YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI) friends to dine at Dai Pai Dong. However he also apologized to Wilson Chin Kwok Wai, because he knew he was busy with work he did not disturb him.

When asked whether Ekin was used to calling her Old Lady yet, Mung Ka Wai smiled sweetly and said, "Sometime he would forget." She also said that when she heard reporters kept calling her Mrs. Cheng, she too was getting used to this new title.

Guests also returned to Hong Kong. Two nights ago Cheng Yi Kin's mother, Jerry Lam Hiu Fung and Lily Hong Chi Nei returned to Hong Kong on the same flight. Mama Cheng was in a wheel chair. In order to witness her son's wedding she went to Japan. When asked whether she was touched to see her son starting a family, Mama Cheng remained silent and did not answer.

Lam Hiu Fung joked about Ekin's wedding, "I have never seen Ekin cry like this, he even told me to get away. I was moved to tears several times myself because I was happy for them." He did not know that Ekin was getting married before hand, only during the trip he was suddenly notified that they were going to a castle. Without any wedding gift prepared, he performed LOVE IS FOREVER for the newlyweds; Ekin also sang for Yoyo. He joked that before leaving Ekin asked him not to say too much, so he could personally make the announcement to the media when he returned to Hong Kong.

Yesterday Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Yuen Woo Ping, and Lau Ka Yung attended the Hong Kong University "Who Is THE GRANDMASTERS film forum". The 1000 seats were filled in two hours, with 600 people waiting outside. When Wai Jai appeared the crowd roared and gave him a standing ovation.

Wai Jai attended an university forum for the first time. When asked whether the film will have a sequel due to good word of mouth? He said, "No, I am not afraid of 3 more years in production. Time isn't a problem, I just want to try something else to have a sense of freshness." Reportedly the Berlin Film Festival screening will be an extended version, Wai Jai asked Wong Kar Wai to confirm. He said that another version would not be fair to the audience, he might edit out some scenes that foreigners would not understand. He would not demand to add back his removed scenes as he thought that as it is now the movie is rather entertaining.

Reportedly he was upset at the size of the role and he was at odds with Wong Kar Wai. Wai Jai laughed and said, "Hahaha, you are killing me, am I this type of person? I have been friends with Wong Kar Wai for so many years that I wouldn't mind. I am 50 years old, I have everything, what else do I want? Instead I have to learn to give, to do charity work on my free time, help those who aren't as fortunate. I took two years off before, life was brilliant. When I woke up I would drink with friends until I fell asleep. With sustenance and responsibility, life would healthier." After promoting in Korea and the U.S., he will take two months off before deciding on his charity work. He was willing to do charity work with his wife Carina Lau Ka Ling as well.

Action director Yuen Woo Ping praised Wai Jai's kung fu film prowess. He should not be compared to Donnie yen Chi Tan, as their styles and specialties were different. Was Chi Tan better? He said, "Wai Jai is great too, they are great in different ways. Wai Jai's action sense is great, he is just being humble." After the two hour forum ended, they went to Mongkok for audience appreciation and celebrated with a lion dance.

The newly single Chrissie Chau Sau Na yesterday promoted her new book in Taiwan. She admitted that although she was focused on work now, she still longed for romance. Sister Na said that although film was not her childhood dream, since trying to perform on the big screen she was deeply attracted and hoped to be able to develop more. Earlier she participated in Stephen Chow Sing Chi's JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN), she worked with Shu Qi to generate laughs. Speaking of many actors feeling Chow Sing Chi was very serious, Sister Na said, "I spent everyday in laughter, that period of a very happy period!" During the event, Eric Tsang Chi Wai suddenly appeared to cheer her on. Sister Na was very appreciative of Chi Wai's support. She said, "From when I started to now he has always been helping me. I learned a lot from him. (How would you repay him?) I would make his movies at a new comer discount rate."

Since he was very old, the family was prepared mentally but he still did his best to treat it. He had chemotherapy 5 times. Originally I planned to pick up Father at the hospital . Last month Father had a fever and the doctor moved him to the intensive car unit. At the time he had to breathe through an oxygen tank and was unable to speak." Fong Chung Shun said that after a few days of fever his father passed away. His sister and family returned to Hong Kong in time to send Father on his final journey.

[2013.02.01] MAX ZHANG THANKS ADA CHOI

courtesy of mingpao.com

Max Zhang Jun recently with the film THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s Ma San won all the applause of the audience and rose in the film industry; yet still some said that he relied on his wife Ada Choi Siu Fun for his opportunity. However how easy would it be to rise on interpersonal relationship in this business today? The former national wushu champion Zhang Jun dared to say that he has suffered for his success; however he still thanked his wife for never looking down on him!

Known to be THE GRANDMASTERS villain, Zhang Jun is Choi Siu Fun's husband as well as a national wushu champion. After over a decade in the film industry he finally made a name for himself. How does he feel now and about outside speculation that he relied on his wife for his fame?

Z: Zhang Jun, R: Reporter

R: Earlier being called husband relying on wife to get rich, this time finally with THE GRANDMASTERS you have an outstanding performance. Do you feel you have proven them wrong?

Z: I am very happy about the audience recognition of me, but the accusation of me relying of my wife for fame is false! I never use my wife for speculation because it isn't positive and only has negative results. Instead I would try to avoid being together. I fought for every character myself, but in this business, I have to accept being talked about. Even if I made a few more THE GRANDMASTERS, people would still talk. I can't do anything about that, I can only accept that; I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking that because it's very normal. Show business is for people to talk about, if no one talks about you it's even sadder.

R: Do you feel that your wife Choi Siu Fun and child are lucky for your career?

Z: It's the Lord's arrangement, nothing is certain. Definitely someone is better than me in martial art, acting and looks. I am lucky, which I would especially cherish. Choi Siu Fun and the children are treasures that the Lord has blessed me with. From now on I would have more opportunities at work and would treat my family even better. Actually my wife already felt that I was good before I made this movie; I thank her very much to appreciate me all along. This is a wife's encouragement for her husband, which isn't easy. Before being recognized, I was already recognized in her heart. She isn't making it up. She understands me more and wouldn't look down on me because I haven't had a representative work after so many years. She instead values someone's ambition. As for me, indeed I wouldn't give up after acting for over ten years without any representative work. I keep on elevating myself. Now I have my representative work, I have a little success so nothing has been wasted.

R: Why would Wong Kar Wai cast you?

Z: Do you think Wong Kar Wai would approach me because of gossip? Of course not! Wong Kar Wai actually doesn't know me. Yuen Woo Ping introduced me to him. Because when I was a stunt coordinator Lord Eight had his eyes on me. Later when he learned that I was acting he recommended me, but I still had to pass Wong Kar Wai's round. This business is very practical. If you got it you got it, if not get lost. Wong Kar Wai wouldn't cast me because of someone.

R: (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai and Zhang Ziyi both complained about how tough THE GRANDMASTERS was to make. Did you feel a lot of pressure?

Z: After not making a movie for so long and the director was very demanding for both action and dramatic scenes, you had to have certain ability to endure. Luckily I had the determination, I wouldn't easily say I couldn't. On the other hand I might have learned something in these 3 years that I couldn't have learned over 10 years, I benefited a lot and I rather enjoyed it. Lord Eight and Wong Kar Wai are both my benefactors, Lord Eight with action and Wong Kar Wai with dramatic scenes. Sometimes I still feel very happy, the director liked a little actor lie me, taught me to have a romance with the camera when I act. The camera couldn't restrict me, and I had to lead the camera around. His words seemed mysterious, required for me to digest on my own and mix into the character. Lord Eight and Wong Kar Wai both encouraged me to continue to be a stunt coordinator. I never gave up. During the shoot I still grasped the opportunity to learn next to Lord Eight.

R: When you were little you suffered a lot, more so than while making THE GRANDMASTERS. What happened?

Z: Around 12, when I should be with my parents being spoiled, I joined the Chengdu professional wushu team. The coach was very mean, the training was very tough. I was really homesick and often cried. After growing up, I started to consider my future. After winning the championship I wanted to retire, but the nation cultivated me. I couldn't just say leave then leave, I struggled a lot about whether to keep on training. At the time I felt nauseous as soon as I saw the training ground, got dizzy and used foul language. Finally I persisted until the 8th athletic games and I was determined to retire. Although I was not permitted to go, was asked to stay on as a coach and to keep on competing, I had to start heading toward my childhood dream of becoming a kung fu star. Because I watched Lee Nin Kit (Jet Li)'s SHAOLIN TEMPLE I studied martial arts. After 10 or 20 years of training, I forgot my martial art training goal. After retirement I started toward this direction.

[2013.01.31] EVA HUANG THANKS STEPHEN CHOW FOR GIVING HER HER START

courtesy of on.cc
courtesy of mingpao.com

Eva Huang Shengyi recently came to Hong Kong to work on her new film THE ICEMAN COMETH 3D (BING FUNG HUP). Two nights ago when she went to the movies she revealed that working with Donnie Yen Chi Tan has been pleasant. She said, "Chi Tan is very nice, very manly and attentive. He is the action director, so I ask him to give me more fight scenes. I have learned a lot from him."

Shengyi had nothing but praise for Chi Tan. Speaking of Stephen Chow Sing Chi who reportedly has cut ties with her due to contract issues she did not criticize Sing Yeh. Instead she supported him, "Reports say he is cheap? I don't know. Saving money is a virtue, as a boss saving money is very normal. He treated me rather well, treating me and a group of people to dinner. As for whether we will work together again that will depend on opportunity. I was younger before, now I am grown. He has his personal style and is very talent. Both as an actor and a director he has his own style." Shengyi felt that no one should always mind what others say because no one could please everyone. She even hinted that her dispute with Sing Yeh has already been resolved and even thanked him. "I thank him very much. Without KUNG FU HUSTLE, with him giving me my start, no one would have a chance to know Huang Shengyi. I should be grateful."

Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Zhou Chuchu and producer Sin Kwok Lam yesterday attended the IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN JUNG GIK YUT JIN) Beijing press conference. Sin Kwok Lam said that although some questioned with Chau Sun's look and non martial art star status whether he was able to play Ip Man well, he felt that Chau Sun after losing weight resembled Ip Man 90%. Chau Sun has also studied Tai Shing Pek Kwar so he was very agile.

Chau Sun in the film had many action scenes. He practiced so much that his arms were swollen. He said, "The fight scene with (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai was very exciting, we both were injured. Although Chi Wai was already 60, he was still powerful. We even joked that we will have to make more action films in the future."

Playing Ip Man's disciple Dim Sum girl, Ah Gil studied Wing Chun with Sin Kwok Lam before joining the cast. She said, "I play a couple with Master Sin's disciple Chow Ting Yu. They often instructed me on the set, so the action scenes weren't too tough."
