After SHANGHAI, Chow Yun Fat will work on Mainland director Lu Chuan's latest film BANQUET OF KING (former BANQUET AT HONG GATE). In it he will play Liu Bang. This time China Film Group, Stellar Megamedia Group and other film companies invested 100 million yuan. The film would use an all new historical perspective and vision to display the lives of three historical figures, Liu Bang, Xiang Yu and Han Xin. So far only Fat Gor has been confirmed to play Liu Bang.
Director Lu Chuan would adapt classic stories like "FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE", "SUCCESS BY XIAO HE, FAILURE BY XIAO HEI", "FEAST AT HONG GATE" and famous battles like BATTLE OF GAIXIA and BATTLE OF JULU to the big screen. The film was expected to start production in October for four months and be released in the middle of next year.
This epic war film made director Lu Chuan as its creative nucleus. Because the Feast at Hong Gate was the most famous banquet in Chinese history, Lu Chuan would focus on it. Earlier Lu Chuan originally was working with Stellar International on FEAST AT HONG GATE, but later due to changes in the idea Lu Chuan worked instead with China Film Group and others under the title BANQUET OF KING. Yesterday the investors even issued a statement to support Lu Chuan's new vision of the legend of three historical figures Liu Bang, Xiang Yu and Han Xin.
