The Giddens Ko directed Taiwan film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE after 10 days in release in Taiwan broke NT$200 million. The film reached Hong Kong two days ago and opened high on a non holiday with HK$1.39 million, defeating the 530,000 LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM) and foreign films. Cinemas saw YOU's strong momentum and rapidly added shows over the weekend.
MY occupied 50.6% of the Hong Kong total single day box office two days ago. At the same time it also defeated its "compatriot" and Taiwan film box office record holder, Wei Te-Sheng's CAPE NO. 7's Hong Kong opening box office of 328,175. The To Kei Fung directed LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE actually already made 1.17 million including advanced screening.
Currently at the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival, Giddens Ko and the cast were very happy about the news. Giddens Ko said, "Thank you everyone in Hong Kong, oh my ma! Hong Kong viewers truly have too much love!"
