Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Lau Ching Wan in the film THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) fought over Zhou Xun with brains and brawls, hand to hand and with weapons.  However one scene in which they were in close combat with weapons became a source of comedy.  The director arranged for them to be in a long sword duel, but Ching Wan during the fight broke the sword in half and the shoot was instantly silent.  Later the director used his quick wit and went with the meteor hammer.  Because the result was surprisingly good, this scene was added into the film.  Ching Wan said, "The director asked me to pick up the hammer and swing it a few times.  Who knew the result would be cool and the hammer and sword duel was pretty interesting."

Wai Jai who has worked on many action scenes admitted that he enjoyed this battle with the meteor hammer the most, because everyone was at ease to concoct comedy.  However during the fight scene they fought behind the curtain.  Ching Wan played like he was stabbed and collapsed.  One of the crew thought it was real and screamed and they had to shoot the scene again.  Wai Jai said, "As I lunged toward Ching Wan, someone screamed.  I thought I actually injured Ching Wan, but Ching Wan looked at me with a face full of suspicion.  Then I realized that the sound came from outside.  After leaving that curtain we realized that someone messed up."
