The new director Ho Miu Kei directed LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA CHEUNG LUEN OI) was the 6th First Feature Film Initiative Professional Group award recipient. Yesterday actors Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, MC Cheung Tin Fu, Stephy Tang Lai Yan, Chan Fai Hung, Ho Kau, Kilby Chan Chiu Suen were working on the production.
Yesterday in the scene the rookie scammer Cheung Tin Fu conspired with the mastermind to swindle expert gynecologist who was worth in hundreds of millions Ng Kwan Yu. Kwan Yu joked that she did not look at all like she would be fooled, so she had to rely on acting to make up for it. Speaking of being rich both in the film and in real life, she joked, "In real life I am worth more than that, my wallet everyday has several wads of cash."
MC is a film industry newcomer. This time being able to play a bad guy and a con man he thought was pretty fun. He said that in the film actually he did not do too many bad things, instead he even trained from a wasted youth into a "talent". Kwan Yu said, "On the surface it is about the scammer group, but underneath it brings out love. You can also say how it turns a useless person into useful, but of course the scammer group in the end would be eliminated by the police. Doing bad things have no good ending." Working in the scorching heat, MC admitted that it has been tough. Earlier he worked on a running scene in an industrial building. He needed to run for a minute nonstop in one straight take. In the end he ran five or six times before he was successful, but he was already so tired that he lay on the ground. However he seemed to be fatter? MC said, "Maybe today I am wearing three layers of clothes and their horizontal stripes make me look fat. On the scale I haven't gotten fatter, probably because making this movie feels very happy." Kwan Yu pointed out that this time the First Feature Film Initiative used government sponsored fund, so every minute and every second counted. The production time has been very long. She also wanted to thank each actor for helping with the production.
MC revealed that in the film at first he only swindled US$ 50,000 from Ng Kwan Yu to adopt a cow. Kwan Yu said that her character only fell for it because she was a little wacky. Has Kwan Yu receive any scam calls in real life? She said, "Plenty, at least 5 a day. Some asks me to lend money, some says they have pretty girls, most are sex calls. I didn't delete those phone conversations and texts, I save them just for laughs. I have thought about changing the phone number, but actually the scammers just pick numbers randomly. Changing the number would be useless." Stephy also said that lately she also received many unknown texts, asking her if she was the daughter of Auntie. MC received the most scam package calls, once he followed the instruction for Cantonese but the message was still in Mandarin. He did not fall for the scam.
Although Stephy was only guest starring, each scene she appeared in would be very special. She said, "I am the scam mastermind, responsible for the screenwriting, teaching MC the tricks to fool people. So I would dress provocatively and date different men for ideas. Then I would teach MC how to make women fall for the con. Thus each scene I would have an all new look. Sometimes the hair would be a mess, and sometimes very exotic."
