[2022.07.05] BREAKOUT BROTHERS 3 TOPS THE 2022 HONG KONG FILM BOX OFFICE SO FAR

The Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association and the Hong Kong Theater Association's Hong Kong Box Office Co. Ltd. yesterday announced the first half of 2022 (January 1st to June 30th) Hong Kong film box office. Among the 73 first run film releases, only 6 were Hong Kong films. The pandemic order to close the cinemas lasted 104 days, from January 7th to April 20th. After losing the Lunar New Year and Easter holidays, cinemas resumed operation on April 21st but still had admission quota restrictions. In the first half of the year the total box office was only HK$ 357,871,862, no film made over HK$ 1 million. In the first half of the year the top five highest grossing Hong Kong films were BREAKOUT BROTHERS 3 (TOH YUK HING DAI 3), which topped the chart with HK$ 713,011 since its June 2nd release. BREAKOUT BROTHERS 2 meanwhile from April 28th to June 8th made HK$ 481,945 and came in fourth. LOOK UP (YUT YEUNG DIK TIN HUNG) from June 23rd to now came in second with HK$ 682,282. DON'T FORGET I LOVE YOU from May 26th to now made HK$ 641,672 in third. A MURDER ERASED (BEI SIU SUT DIK HUNG ONG) from June 16th to now made HK$ 462,728 in fifth place.
