Famous Hong Kong screenwriter and director Alex Law Kai Yui passed away early this month at age 69. His memorial services will take place on August 3rd between 6 and 8:30 PM at the Methodist International Church and his farewell ceremony will take place the next morning. His remains will then be transported to the Diamond Hill Crematorium for cremation.
Law Kai Yui and girlfriend Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting worked together countless times in the film industry and were nicknamed the "Bonnie and Clyde of Directors". After over 38 years in the film industry, most of their work were Cheung Yuen Ting directed and Law Kai Yui written. They created many classic films together, including AN AUTUMN'S TALE, THE SOONG SISTERS, CITY OF GLASS and A TALE OF THREE CITIES. Among them PAINTED FACES, NOW YOU SEE LOVE...NOW YOU DON'T, and ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW were Law Kai Yi written and directed. With AN AUTUMN'S TALE and ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW he won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Screenplay. PAINTED FACES at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards won many awards, including the Golden Horse Award Best film, director and original screenplay.
