Today is the 21st anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing (Gor Gor)'s passing. Yesterday outside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Central had many "Gor fans" sent floral arrangements to remember their idol by. A sea of flowers appeared and many "punched their cards" in front of the flowers. Cheung Kwok Wing on April 1s 2003 around 6:43 PM fell from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Every year "Gor Fan" would be there to remember him since then.
When the news of Cheung Kwok Wing's passing spread, many did not believe it and thought it was an April Fool's Day prank. Ngai Sze Pui was Cheung Kwok Wing's first girlfriend. Earlier she appeared on Poon Siu Chung's HORROR HOTLINE interview and recalled her response to when she got the news 21 years ago. "When I go the phone, that day was April 1st, I thought it was a joke so I was very mad. I told my friend, 'Why would you talk about him out of the blue, and talk about that.' Later when the news confirmed it, in my heart 'Gor Gor' only went out of the country to another place. Ngai Sze Pui mentioned "Gor Gor" once gave her a ring, unfortunately due to numerous relocations it was lost years ago.
