Starring in the new film WU XIA, Donnie Yen Chi Tan yesterday gathered a group of young martial art students to unveil the film with a giant poster. The event arranged for the children to perform a martial art demonstration and reminded Chi Tan of when he studied martial art in his childhood. Chi Tan said, "I was just like the children here, studying the Northern style long fist. However that was several decades ago." As a father Chi Tan said that he would permit his children to learn kung fu and would even personally instruct. Chi Tan said, "Of course I would permit other teachers to teach them too, they could be more obedient. However I was afraid that I couldn't hold my tongue."
Yen Chi Tan said that he did not start studying kung fu until he was nine, which was considered late. Chi Tan said, "My son is still little, he's only 4. He can start when he grows up a little more. Martial art is an individual endeavor, it depends on your own interest as well as fate." Chi Tan also revealed that many people asked whether he would open a school, but despite his martial art background his career was still film. He said, "A school at most could only teach 1,000 people but a movie could be viewed by many, I could promote martial arts through film."
