Louis Koo Tin Lok and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin yesterday attended an Italian fashion brand new store opening at Central. Also in attendance were Qi Qi, Kary Ng Yu Fei and Cara G.

Goo Jai told a joke about what was Suzhou best known for since Ah Sa just returned from there. Goo Jai said that when he worked on DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART (DAN SUN NAM NUI), Johnnie To Kei Fung kept asking him this question. At the time he did not understand and did not expect the answer to be a joke. Goo Jai finally appeared without his bearded film look. Has he already completed ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN 2)? Goo Jai denied and said that the film had two parts but it will wrap in a few days. Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Andy Hui Chi On were rumored to wed next year, Goo Jai said, "I don't know, I will ask her during the wrap. I only saw in the papers On Jai's fans holding up 'Mrs. Hui' signs." Goo Jai also revealed that after completing ROMANCING he will start work on the new film YANG CLAN WARRIORS (YEUNG GA JEUNG). As for THE LION ROARS 2, why was he not involved in the sequel? Goo Jai explained that he had to work on YANG. Did he know about former co-star Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's marriage was on the rocks? Goo Jai said, "I just found out from the papers. (Do you believe it?) As an outsider and a colleague, I felt I shouldn't give too many opinions. They should be given more time and freedom."

Johnnie To Kei Fung two nights ago attended the "NOIR: A Film Noir Retrospective Bridging France and Hong Kong" with the French Consul General in Hong Kong. The event will take place between June 3 and 26, 27 Hong Kong and French films will be screened together. Other guests
included the French Consul General in Macao and Ringo Lam Lan Tung.

For one of the segments, Ah To selected nine films including Wong Tin Lam's WILD, WILD ROSE (YEH MUI GWAI JI LUEN), Ann Hui On Wa's THE SECRET (FUNG GIP), Tsui Hark's THE DANGEROUS ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIRST KIND (DAI YUT LUI YING NGAI YIM), Johnny Mak Tong Hung's LONG ARM OF THE LAW (SAN GONG KEI BING), John Woo (Ng Yu Sum)'s A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK), Lam Lan Tung's CITY ON FIRE (LUNG FU FUNG WON), Alfred Cheung Kin Ting's ON THE RUN (MONG MING YUEN YEUNG), Wong Kar Wai's AS TEARS GO BY (WONG GOK KA MOON), Patrick Tam Ka Ming's MY HEART IS THAT ETERNAL ROSE (SAT SAU WU DIP MUNG). Ah To pointed out that in the past French film festivals were focused on recommending French films. This year's special screening would be a cross over exchange with Hong Kong film culture. Thus he selected 80's glorious and classic directors' work. He would like to see his mentor Wong Tin Lam's WILD WILD ROSE the most, because he has only seen in on DVD. As for Tsui Hark's CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE DANGEROUS KIND which was banned at the time, now the complete director's cut would be screened. The film finally saw the light of day again.

Speaking of rumors that Sammi Cheng Sau Man agreed to marry Hui Chi On next year, reporters joked that Ah To's earlier comment of On Jai could not escape Sammi came true. Ah To said that he was only joking. "How could they break up again? It's time to tie the knot! (On Jai hasn't proposed to Sammi at the concert yet?) Then On Jai should perform another show to propose to Sammi, it should be soon, in this or next year. Let me quietly ask Sammi then tell everyone."

The Derek Yee Tung Sing directed fantasy action film THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) is heating up in production in Beijing. Yesterday the key location "Zhang's House of Magic" was opened for media visits. The director along with actors Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Lau Ching Wan, Zhou Xun, Yan Ni, Wu Gang, Paul Chun Pui and Kenya Sawada all appeared in costumes.

Wai Jai appeared in red as the Great Magician Zhang Xian on the stage. Speaking of the production, Wai Jai said, "I really feel this movie is shooting too quickly. In my experience, this type of movies at least would take half a year or more. Director Yee Tung Sing is able to finish in two to three months, which truly is very fast. Maybe I like this team too much, happy times are often short. Hopefully the boss will make another movie with the original team, which would be great." Was he hinting that Wong Kar Wai's THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s shoot was too slow. Wai Jai denied that and joked that reporters were too sensitive. He explained that the directors were different and did not mean to make any comparison.

Zhou Xun and her on screen father Chun Pui appeared together. In the film Zhou Xun was not only Wai Jai's fiance but also the Warlord Lau Ching Wan's seventh concubine. Yet she chose to appear as "father and daughter" for her first appearance. She defended herself and said, "This isn't my fault, blame Leung Chiu Wai for taking off without a word and letting Lau Ching Wan take me away." As Ching Wan's third concubine Yan Ni joked that Lau Ching Wan loved her the most out of his mates. Ching Wan nodded in agreement. Yan Ni added the he was quite a ladies' man who not only loved Yan Ni but also Zhou Xun. As for working with two Best Actors Zhou Xun simply said "cool". She said that working with two of the most handsome superstars was too great! Yee Tung Sing revealed that the film has already been in production for more than two months. In 20 days or more it will wrap.

Michael Hui Koon Man yesterday attended Paco Wong's TVB Life program. In May Michael received the Udine Far East Film Festival lifetime achievement award. Michael joked that everything in Italian was so expensive that even going to the bathroom cost around HK$20. He only bought himself a pair of shoes as reward.

"The shoes cost over HK$4,000. This time they didn't invite me, but because the festival had a Michael Week I had to support it. It also proved that foreigners respected Hong Kong a lot." Was he offered to make a foreign film? Michael said that they asked why Hong Kong had less and less comedy and was less lively than before. Yet Hong Kong in order to coordinate with the Chinese market did not have as much Hong Kong authenticity as before. He hoped to make a movie at the end of the year.

His brother Sam Hui Koon Kit will become a grandfather to twins. Michael joked that his life would certainly change because from now on they would go out in a group of eight. He continued, "After I became a grandfather eight people did everything together, he will have nine. A group of people seems to be very happy but Sam doesn't like to go out. He can teach them to sing and play the piano!" Paco said that he already congratulated Michael and thought that he was the glory of Hong Kong. In addition later he had a movie with a little comedy and suspense that he would like to work with Michael on. The lead actor for now would be Stephy Tang Lai Yun. Hopefully it will be able to start production at the end of July

China's first Miss World Zhang Zilin in THE MONKEY KING (DAI LAU TIN GUNG) played Nuwu and her costume has been officially unveiled. Nuwu's concept costume and color utilization displayed elegance and grace. The legend of Nuwu repairing the sky will appear in the film through modern high technology for the first time. In order to complete Nuwu repairing the sky with crystal, the investment cost almost 5 million RMB.

This time Nuwu appeared in Nuwu's traditional human head snake body look, but details like accessories were more gorgeous. The colorful accessories on her arm was different from Nuwu's past serious image. At the same time, the film spent almost 5 million on the "Nuwu repairs the sky" scene. According to writer Edmond Wong Chi Hung, "The film not only put the focus on 'wrecking havoc in the Heavenly Palace' scene but also mixed in many causes and effects into the film. Thus, the Zhang Zilin played Nuwu was not making soy sauce as in the legend but truly had an important task to shoulder."

Zhang Zilin said, "At first when the film offered this role, I was somewhat uneasy. Nuwu as the female ancestor of humanity first had to have graceful Eastern femininity as well as the holiness that she should have. I tried to interpret both qualities, hopefully everyone would like this character." The film company also invited two dance instructors to conduct a week long dance training for her. During the shoot, Zhang Zilin was on the wire and in midway for 18 hours. She performed a variety of dance in flight and highly difficult spins. Zhang Zilin said, "After this scene, my body almost wasn't my own anymore."

The fresh out of the oven "Paeksang Best Actress" Tang Wei again sacrificed her looks. In WU XIA she was willing to give up her beauty to play a "sot faced" village woman and even played a mother of two for the first time; this new Mommy completely relied on "hubby" Donnie Yen Chi Tan's sideline guidance and magic tricks for Tang Wei and the child actors to interpret the mother and children relationships in and out of the film.

While shooting in Tengchong, Yunnan, Tang Wei often paid attention to the local women's looks and movements. She understood that in order to achieve the soul of a village woman she first had to get a tan. Thus she utilized Tengchong's blazing sunlight to "complete the mission'. Yet Tang Wei was quite demanding. She discovered that people who lived on the farm often had dirty fingernails, so everyday before the shoot she would stick her hands into the dirt.

Looking the part fully, Tang Wei also worked hard on being a mother. Her on screen husband and a good father on his own right Yen Chi Tan obviously became the best "guide post". Tang Wei before the performance constantly asked Chi Tan for advice, so Chi Tan shared his parenthood tips with her. Playing a mother this time, Tang Wei understood that the rule that actors could not "out act" children. Tang Wei said, "Children's words and behavior often change, behind the change are some smarts, some innocence. No professional actor would be able to expect how they act. They would definitely lose to their innocence!"

Jacqueline Chong Si Man, Yedda Chao Tong, Jim Chim Sui Man and others yesterday promoted their new film MICROSEX OFFICE (CHIU SING BAN GUNG SUT), gave away beverages and played games with people.

As for not being as sexy as Chao Tong, Chong Si Man did not mind too much. In the film she dressed neutrally except for a bikini scene. Was she worried about the crowd? Chong Si Man thought that since two men were on hand, she believed that she did not need to worry too much. She also revealed that in the film she would talk about some sex topics. Because of the company made sex products, her eyes were opened. Did she feel embarrassed? Chong Si Man said, "No, some were like art. I never thought it was (sex products). (Did you try any?) Haha, I still haven't
had a chance to."

Chao Tong dressed up according to the event theme of sexy office lady. She even added a suit jacket. Was she worried about people focusing on her chest? Chao Tong said, "I am not as I am covered in taped. Now it's very hot so there's a lot of sweat, nude bra and tape seem to be a little loose. (Would your wardrobe malfunction?) No, I am doing my best to keep them in place." Jim Sir said that earlier he just finished the new film's editing. He thought it was better than expected. Full of comedy, he was very satisfied. Now he is looking forward to the film release.

Wong Jing and Philip Ng Won Lung yesterday welcomed the Duen Ng Festival early and gave away zong to promote the Brother Jing directed June 23 release TREASURE INN (CHOI SUN HAT JANG). Guest star Mavis Pan Shuangshuang due to appendicitis could not assist with the Hong Kong promotion. Did Brother Jing call her? Brother Jing said, "No, we contact her through her company Bona. Privately we don't have any contact."

Recently rising in popularity again due to her crying scene, Linda Chung Ka Yun reportedly "dumped" rumored boyfriend Ng Won Lung in order to compete for the television best actress award; Ng Won Lung was asked about his relationship with Ka Yun and he only said it was as it was before. Was their relationship already very stable? He still said, "It's the same as it was." Brother Jing said, "I recently signed him, this year he will get a push in action films. (Has he been banned from dating?) No." Since the boss permitted dating, was Ng Won Lung at ease? He changed the subject and said, "I am at ease with anything after signing with Brother Jing." Would Brother Jing make a movie for him to work with Ka Yun on? Brother Jing said, with the right script he could.

In addition, recently Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi's marriage was accused of being on the rocks. As Ting Fung's buddy has Ng Won Lung called Ting Fung? He honestly said yes, but they only talked about kung fu and never anything else. He did not feel
Ting Fung was acting strange either.

Just finishing his Beijing concert, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing yesterday attended an eye wear store opening. About a pole breaking off high above the stage during the concert, he was very scared and thanked the team for using a day without rest to repair it. He also thanked the audience for its enthusiastic support, understanding and tolerance. He said online that the performance was very unforgettable. He also thanked Zhang Ziyi for returning to see his concert and giving his flowers, which made him very happy.

Kwok Fu Sing and Zhang Ziyi starred in the film LOVE FOR LIFE (JUI OI), which will open June 16. Playing a couple with AIDS, their acting was challenged fully. Due to AIDS lowering immunity, Sing Sing's character often suffered from illness. He said, "In order to express pain, I twisted up my facial muscles and had to scream with all my might. I scared the team stiff." In one scene he had another fever, Zhang Ziyi kept going to the well to get water to cool his temperature down but to no avail. She then stripped down to her underwear, dove into the bathtub to chill her body then held him to cool him down. Zhang Ziyi during the shoot did not hesitate at all, but later she revealed that a female viewer wanted to intimate her. The viewer thought holding a feverish husband romantic, but her husband said that if his wife was Zhang Ziyi, Sing Sing definitely would have been crushed to death. Zhang Ziyi did not know whether to laugh or cry.

As for his performance, Sing Sing described that a different Kwok Fu Sing could be seen. Yet he would not grade his own performance. Would he try comedy? He honestly said that he would like to and hoped to have the chance. He even hoped to be able to work with directors like Zhang Yimou and Feng Xiaogang in the future. After returning to Hong Kong, he will work on a new film, in which he will play a couple with Rene Liu (Lau Yeuk Ying).

Eason Chan Yik Shun yesterday signed autographs for THIS IS EASECERT 3DVD MV collection. Speaking of good friends Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi's marriage problems that was worsen when Pak Chi switched seats on a plane and took photos with Edison Chen Koon Hei, he said, "It's on the rocks just like that? My marriage has been rumored to be on the rocks too. If you say Ting Fung is depressed, he is always like that but actually is very happy. He has to play cool so he chok it out. It's natural, as soon as he was born he started to chok. Actually he isn't depressed. The last time I talked to him he was very happy. (When was that?) Two months ago. (That was before the plane incident and Ting Fung didn't spend Pak Chi's birthday with her.) I believe Ting Fung is focused on making a movie. I know he is working in Malaysia. (Any contact lately?) Constantly, he just plays video games and wouldn't care about this. (Do you think Ting Fung has an open mind about what happened with Pak Chi and Chen Koon Hei?) If you ask me, I feel he wouldn't care about that."

He recently has been busy with making a film and a concert tour so he was a little under the weather. He was very worried about Karen Mok Man Wai because after a kiss scene in EAST MEETS WEST 2011 (DONG SING SAI JAU 2011), Karen immediately "vomited". Actually she was not feeling well. Later she was hospitalized for appendicitis. Eason joked, "I hope she wasn't hospitalized from kissing me? Do I need to fix my look?" He said that he would give the recovering Karen, Rowena Cortes and his producer a copy with thank you notes, something that he heard that Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing used to do.

Karen had the operation. Although she has not completely recovered she already returned to Huizhou to continue the shoot. The director was very understanding of her condition, but she still very quickly got into character. The director was pleased with her performance, which made Karen feel that she did her part.

Yesterday Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi went to Shenzhen to continue work on REPEAT, I LOVE YOU. Her manager Emily revealed that so far she had no idea when the shoot would end and was waiting the director's arrangements. Two days ago Stanley Kwan Kam Peng pointed out that Pak Chi was unhappy and had enormous pressure from recent unpleasantness. Emily denied and said, "It's made up!" She explained that Pak Chi two days ago did not attend the film press conference because it was her 31st birthday. Before the production began she already asked the team for time off. Pak Chi did not keep taking time off as rumored.

As for the rumored marital problems between Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Pak Chi, Emily said that she would not comment on Pak Chi's personal life and would only talk about work. In past years Ting Fung would spend Pak Chi's birthday with her, this year he did not and led to outside negative speculation. She said, "You have to ask Ting Fung."

Ting Fung is working on a movie in Malaysia. Yesterday Emperor executive Mani Fok Man Hei said, "Ting Fung didn't respond, we have no comment about his family life either."

Kwan Kam Peng said that after returning to work Pak Chi seemed fine and the news did not affect her. She was in decent condition. Did he talk to Pak Chi? He said, "As a producer I would say something supportive to Pak Chi. Pak Chi is very professional. Two days ago she didn't attend the press conference because she wasn't feeling well. The film will shoot as scheduled until early June. (Would Pak Chi work until completion?) The film company would make the arrangements. (Was Pak Chi unhappy about the news two days ago?) She is fine!"

Kwan Kam Peng said that Pak Chi was absent two days ago from the Shenzhen press conference due to a hand sprain. Yesterday Pak Chi already returned to work and would not hinder Kwon Sung-Woo's schedule. "We are set to finish all of Kwon Sung-Woo's scenes by early June. This still hasn't changed unless inclement weather hinders production."

Kwam Kam Peng said that Pak Chi before the shoot asked for three holidays, one for her birthday, the other two were for her younger son Quintus' birthday and Blackie Chen Chien-Chou's wedding. He did not understand why the media is always attacking Pak Chi. "Good actors are very rare in the film industry. Why is she always under attack? I don't read anything like that now, I don't want to puke up blood."

Donnie Yen Chi Tan two days ago attended a video game ad press conference in Guangzhou. He honestly said that he did not have time to play games with his son. Instead he would be with the children more on outdoor activities. He also revealed that his three year old son had quite a desire to perform, thus he wanted to wait until he was older then he would teach him to become his successor.

Chi Tan in the game played a chief instructor. In comparison to making a movie, he thought the kung fu in the film was not as stringent as film. Many criticized online games as unhealthy, Chi Tan urged everyone to know the proper balance. "You can't say playing games is unhealthy, game is one of the products that prove the society is improving. I am busy so I don't have time to play games with children. In general we would do some outdoor activities and I would get an understanding of their daily school experience more. Since I treat myself like their friends, I would communicate equally with them more." Chi Tan also said that the best gift for the children was to participate in the children's lives. "My son is three year old and has never seen my movies. I used to think it's in his genetics. My son is amazing, he has quite a desire to perform. When he gets older I will teach him. He will be my successor." As for the three roles of good actor, good father and good husband, Chi Tan honestly said that good father is the hardest. Ultimately he and the children have age differences, and they keep maturing and changing. He has to grow up with them at their pace.

With the success of IP MAN, Chi Tan keeps on getting film offers. Yet he has not worked himself to death because he would like to play some characters that everyone has never seen. In addition he would like to spend more time on his children, thus he asked for time off. Has he thought about giving up acting? He confidently said, "Absolutely not. Chinese kung fu film is a very valuable film genre. Since I still have some influence, why not keep expanding it so it can keep getting international recognition? Most recent WU XIA's Cannes word of mouth has been great, the overseas media's generally good review is very rare. As a part of it, I am very proud."

The Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Korean hunk Kwon Sung-Woo starred new film REPEAT, I LOVE YOU yesterday held a press conference in Shenzhen. News figure Pak Chi was absent due to health reasons. Attendees included producer Stanley Kwan Kam Peng, director Calvin Poon Yuen Leung, actors Angela Chang Siu Hom, Jing Boran, Jing Tian, Sphinx Ting Chun Sing and Chen Taisheng.

At the press conference, producer Kwan Kam Peng waited until the end to express regret about Pak Chi's absence. Because Pak Chi was very involved on the set, the production made her very tired. He hoped that everyone would understand and give her some time. Later the host also said that Pak Chi could not attend due to health reasons and asked everyone to applaud to wish her an early recovery. As the press conference, the team broke into three groups of media interviews. Kwan Kam Peng who was with Kwon Sung-Woo and Chen Taisheng first stated, "Just ask me anything about Cheung Pak Chi, Kwon Sung-Woo doesn't want to say anything for Cheung Pak Chi." He honestly said that Pak Chi's manager Emily yesterday also came to Shenzhen for a meeting and gave the team an understanding of Pak Chi's current health condition. He said, "Emily said that she would head back and 'convince' Pak Chi to return to work as soon as possible. (Does the term convince mean she is unwilling to return?) We have to give her even greater support. In the film she played two different characters who are very different, the pressure is also large. In addition recently something unpleasant happened to her, the pressure and the exhaustion were even greater." Would Pak Chi's time off affect the production progress? Kwan Kam Peng continued, "We have another plan, hopefully we make up the progress. Kwon Sung-Woo in June will head to Paris for Jackie Chan's film, but Pak Chi's role will not be eliminated." He revealed that Pak Chi originally would return to the team two days ago. Emily would inform them when she would return. However he was not worried that Pak Chi would quit the film halfway and was confident that Pak Chi will be back soon.

Pak Chi's absence left Kwon Sung-Woo to carry the load alone. He said that for his first overseas development and movie in China he inevitably was nervous. Luckily with everyone's care and assistance the collaboration has been very pleasant. He also cherished this chance very
much. Because this was his first movie for the overseas market, it was very important to him. As for working with Pak Chi for the first time, Kwon Sung-Woo praised Pak Chi as a very seasoned actress in Chinese film. She did not just rely on one or two film to have everything that she had today. In the film her acting was very outstanding. She also worked on a Korean film before, and FAILAN was very popular with the Korean viewers. He said, "On this collaboration, many on the set said that she was very focused and performed very well. Pak Chi in the film played two characters, a lady and a strong woman. She gave a very focused performance and helped me a lot." In addition Kwon Sung-Woo reportedly was not used to Chinese food and insisted on Korean food during the shoot. He clarified that the report was baseless and honestly said that he liked Chinese food. As for whether Pak Chi's time off would affect his new film schedule in Paris next month, he believed that they had ample time and he would not be affected.

Director Poon Yuen Leung, Jing Tian and Ting Chun Sing were interviewed. Poon Yuen Leung revealed that the film has already more than half shot. As for Pak Chi's time off, he said, "Everything about her has been said on stage, I don't have anything to add. (When will she return to work?) No comment." Jing Tian played Pak Chi's cousin and had many scenes together. She felt that Pak Chi was very nice and her idol. Speaking of Pak Chi's time off, Poon Yuen Leung immediately cut in. "I believe we all lover her. Everyone is supportive of her. We are done."
