Near the end of East Han, prime minister Cao Cao with the Emperor's order in hand defeated the Liu Bei led Zu Army. The Cao camp captured Liu Bei's family. His sworn brother Guan Yu became a captive as well in order to protect Liu's family and won Cao's admiration and generous treatment. Yet Guan Yu did not forget Liu Bei, his heart was with Han while his body was in the Cao camp. Guan Yu learned that Guan Yu once liked Liu Bei's not yet consummated new concubine Qilan and plotted to trap Guan Yu for dishonor; luckily Guan Yu was able to stop in time, killed his way out of the Cao camp with Qilan in tow. He crossed five passes and slain six generals to reach the Yangtze River, only to fall into the Cao army ambush! At the moment of life and death, Cao Cao treated him with courtesy.
