[2014.04.12] SWITCH SWEEPS THE GOLDEN PLUM

The Hong Kong Film Award will take place tomorrow night, signaling that the Apple Daily Entertainment page's 9th Golden Plum Film Poll after nearly 10,000 people voted has reached its unveiling. Last year Hong Kong films sharply injected local elements to welcome Hong Kong people's taste, making co-production films that were neither fish nor fowl even more odd looking. The Jay Sun Jianjun's directing debut SWITCH (TIN GEI: FU CHUN SHAN GUI TOH) was the most "outstanding"; the superficiality that it piled on to attempt to hide the holes in the story severely buried Andy Lau Tak Wa and Zhang Jingchu's acting and made it swallow the Most Rotten Director, the Most Rotten Scene and the Most Rotten Chinese film, indeed a recent rotten film classic! Yet in terms of dominance, how can it rival William Chan Wai Ting who is known to everyone? He with HARDCORE COMEDY (CHUNG HAU MEI) again won the Most Rotten Actor, making him the three time winner; as for Kate Tsui Tsz Shan she with I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 (2013 NGOR OI HK GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) won her first Most Rotten Actress award. - SO FUN NEI

Looking back at last year's Hong Kong film market, films with local concepts rose. Films like THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI), UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) and RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI) brought heavy local flavor, UNBEATABLE and RIGOR received almost ten nominations each for tomorrow night's Hong Kong Film Award. Filmmaking is just like a revolution, neither is taking people to dinner. Filmmakers' longing for the big piece of Mainland meat has become the general trend, the question is how to adjust their state of mind and how to make co-production films naturally. A look at this year's Golden Plum nominations shows that nine out of ten are all impudent co-productions. Ultimately, the mentality of using stars to rob the audience is very immoral.

Not Yet Lower Than Low

After a month, the total voter amount reached 9,225 people. The dust has already settled on Golden Plum results. Although there is only one award, the writer can daringly say that all the nominees are from the beginning to the end rotten films. One can only sound outdated and say "there is no most rotten, only even more rotten". Among the five major awards, the most ferocious competition is with the Most Rotten Actor. As everyone knows, Raymond Lam Fung and William are frequent Golden Plum guests, but "Big Guy" Law Chung Him led the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS: RELOADED (GOO WAT JAI: GOO WU SUN DIT JUI) actors like Oscar Leung Lit Wai and Sammu Sum Chun Hin actually dramatically mixed up Wise Guy, Lady Killer and Mongkok Guy in their performance. Originally before the race they are the favorites and have hope to share the Actor prize as an entire cast. Unfortunately, William is no energy saving light. He in HARDCORE COMEDY's rookie acting is spat on online, finally with 33% of the votes he wins the Most Rotten Actor.

As for the Most Rotten Actress, due to Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi taking a year off, even more rising actresses take the chance to strike. Originally "Taiwan's First Flower Vase" Lin Chiling in SWITCH is the favorite, no one expects that one mountain would be lower than another. With Hong Kong Film Award Best New Performer Tsui Tsz Shan in the slapped together Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 (2013 NGOR OI HK GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) performed with quite an effort, her epic fail expression that could either be laughing or crying receives a tidal wave of bad reviews. Finally with 3,130 votes she defeats "Catatonic Ling"'s 2,638 votes for the Actress prize, actually you seriously won!

Rotten From The Beginning To The End

This year's Golden Plum focus of course is the extreme disaster film SWITCH! From the moment viewers think the film subject revolves around the Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountain painting and buy tickets, in 122 minutes that followed they are destined to be tortured to death. Director Jay Sun is a genius that is even harder to find than pink nipples! No more ink needs to be wasted on how rotten the film is, because the vote count has already said everything. It receives 48% vote, taking away the Most Rotten Film/Director prize without any doubt. At the same time, like a two hour advertisement magazine SWITCH is rotten from the beginning to the end. In it Wa Jai and Sister Catatonic Ling's fake sex real climax and the masked Tong Dawei duel of "Guess who am I" are the most savored scenes, thus this film cannot lose the Most Rotten Scene. As for the Most Rotten Film, originally Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun)'s music video medley "music film" ROOFTOP (TIN TOI) can rival SWITCH but the answer overturns that. Now SWITCH takes away three major awards, will Jay Sun be more ambitious and make a sequel? People are truly concerned.
