[2011.01.15] SHU QI, TANG WEI COMPETE FOR GUANGDONG HONG KONG MACAU BEST ACTRESS

Hong Kong Film Development Council member and Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association chairman Hung Cho Sing, Creative Hong Kong assistant director and Hong Kong Film Development Council Secretary Fung Wing and Hong Kong directors Wilson Yip Wai Shun, Manfred Wong (Man Jun) and others yesterday attended the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau film industries organized first "Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Youth Film Event". The event will take place on February 25 in Guangzhou's Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Yesterday nominations were announced. Nominated for Best Actor were Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Jiang Wen, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Ge You and Nick Cheung Ka Fai, for Best Actress were Tang Wei, Xu Fan, Shu Qi, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Zhou Dongyu. Best Picture nominees were SACRIFICE, AFTER SHOCK, LET THE BULLETS FLY, IF YOU ARE THE ONE 2 and ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU).

Creative Hong Kong assistant director and Hong Kong Film Development Council Secretary Fung Wing revealed that this year the Entertainment Expo will not only have film awards but also add "Asia Rainbow Award for Television" and "Asia Popular Music Festival" on March 22 and 23. Both will receive over 10 million in production budget from the government. IFPI will direct the music event. Speaking of this year's music award chaos, he said that the award ceremony will be open. Fung Wing also revealed that the government will allocate 300 million to assist the film industry. Three films have already been approved.

Hong Kong director Yip Wai Shun was nominated for Most Popular Director. Yip Wai Shun said that he will support anything that will increase film industry employment opportunities. In addition this is a Guangdong Hong Kong and Macau film event, which has never been done before. Speaking of his film CHINESE GHOST STORY (SIN NUI YAU WON), Yip Wai Shun said that Louis Koo Tin Lok, Liu Yifei and Yu Shaoqun have been confirmed. He also said that he will guest star in the Lunar New Year film ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2011 (JUI KEUNG HEI SI). He joked that he was an extra and had more scenes with Yen Chi Tan, who he realized was a worse actor than him.
