The Alan Mak Siu Fai and Felix Chong Man Keung directed, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Jiang Wen, Betty Sun Li starred THE LOST BLADESMAN (GUAN WON CHEUNG) earlier released an all new set of stills. Chen Hong as Lady Gan, Liu Bei's wife has been unveiled for the first time. After playing Diaochan eight years ago she again played a Three Kingdoms character. The directors said that the role of Lady Gan was tailored for Chen Hong. "Back then Diaochan was only beautiful, in recent years she had more behind the scene work experience. She could be said as learning both inside and outside."

In recent years Chen Hong helped her husband Chen Kaige as the center of her work gradually moved from on to off screen. This time at the invitation of THE LOST BLADESMAN producer Liang Ting she returned to the screen and guest starred as Liu Bei's wife Lady Gan. To Chen Hong, this was a return to Three Kingdoms. Eight years ago she in Chen Kaige's first television series played Diaochan. Director Chong Man Keung still remembered Chen Hong's character as if it was yesterday. "That Diaochan role left me with a very deep impression. I thought her costume look was exceedingly beautiful. Working behind the scene in recent years, she added a little capability to her aura. Thus this script had a few scenes for Lady Gan. Although the role was not major, it was completely tailored for her."

The directors were after a simple and real visual style in the entire film, but Chen Hong's costume was "simple yet elegant". Mak Siu Fai said, "Chen Hong's character in the film could be described as integrated internally and externally. She did not have many lines but her every move was dramatic. Conceivably viewers after watching will definitely feel Chen Hong's look would rival her Diaochan look then."
