SHAOLIN (SUN SIU LUM JI) reached 20 million at the Hong Kong box office. Aside from the local market, overseas markets including the Mainland, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and even places as far as Australia all stirred up a "Shaolin fever". As the global box office headed toward 400 million, the director and the cast were rather excited.

Good news followed one after another, SHAOLIN not only was a global box office hit that won all the raves but also broke many records. Andy Lau Tak Wa's movies have always maintained quality. SHAOLIN even set his new personal box office in Singapore. The film company and the distributor there were very pleased with such a result to be proud of. Wa Jai of course was happy that the film not only had good word of mouth but also set his new record overseas. In addition, viewers around the world all fought to buy tickets. Before the film even opened the tickets were already sold out, and due to too many simultaneous viewer online purchases the internet was crashed. Director Benny Chan Muk Sing honestly expressed his gratitude.
