The Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild 2011 Spring Banquet and award ceremony took place two nights ago in Sheung Wan. Its new president was announced to be director Derek Yee Tung Sing, while the honorary award went to Sammo Hung Kam Bo. The event announced the two year per term 14th term president, vice president and the executive committee memberships. Having been the president before, Yee Tung Sing will lead again. Vice presidents will be Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Alex Law Kai Yui, Gordon Chan Ka Seung and Manfred Wong (Man Jun). At the same time the honorary award winner was announced to be Hung Kam Bo. The 2010 New Actor gold prize went to THE LEGEND IS BORN: IP MAN (IP MAN CHIN JUEN)'s To Yu-Hang, silver prize went to BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER's Jennifer Tse Ting Ting, and the bronze prize went to BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER's Hanjin Tan (Chen Woon Yan); the 2010 New Director was ONCE A GANGSTER (FEI SA FUNG JUNG SHUEN)'s Felix Chong Man Keung. The 2010 Most Recommended Film went to DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DIK YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK), STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN), GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) and LOVE IN THE PUFF (CHI MING YU CHUNG GIU) (in no particular order). As for the 2010 Most Outstanding Director the prize went to DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME's Tsui Hark, STOOL PIGEON's Dante Lam Chiu Yin and LOVE IN A PUFF's Pang Ho Cheung.

Because Yee Tung Sing and Chan Ka Seung could not attend due to work, vice president Man Jun spoke on behalf of Yee Tung Sing. Yee Tung Sing stated that this time he was in trouble because being elected was not only not an advantage but also very hard to swallow. He joked that he ran into a "drug gang" and an executive committee plot. Lau Wai Keung said that as the market took off, the vice president seats went from two to four to share in the duties. Lau Wai Keung often visited the White Dragon King in Thailand. He said that he would go a dozen times or so every year and said that the White Dragon King was in great health.
