Famous filmmaker Jimmy Heung Wa Keung due to esophageal cancer passed away in Beijng two nights ago at age 64. Heung Wa Sing's Wins film company has made many classic hit films like GOD OF GAMBLERS (DOH SUN), FIGHT BACK TO SCHOOL (TOH HOK WAI LUNG) and THE CRAZY COMPANIES (JUI GAI SUEN YAU). Many film stars who have worked with him expressed regret.

Heung Wa Sing and his brother Charles Heung Wa Keung in the 80s and the 90s formed Wins film company, made many hit films and worked with many stars like Stephen Chow Sing Chi, Chow Yun Fat, Anita Mui Yim Fong, Andy Lau Tak Wa and others. By the late 90s, Heung Wa Sing eased out of the film industry to focus on business in the Mainland. He had two marriages, his first wife was Cheung Mei Ling, then he dated stars Cheung Man and Shirley Cheung Yuk San. In 2009 he wed Duanmu Yingzi.

Reportedly Duanmu Yingzi later will return to Hong Kong for her husband's funeral and memorial. Mrs. Charles Heung Wa Keung, Tiffany Chen Lan, yesterday posted on Weibo, "In 93 he, his brother Heung Wa Keung and I worked together to fight in the war film for 8 years and won, back then was our period of full bloom! Although starting in 94 my husband and I parted ways with him professionally, I still miss that in his mind wre always some good and unique ideas that others could not think of! Safe journey Sup Sam Siu!"

Yuen Wing Yi also posted, "Brother Wa Sing! Safe journey!" Lee Shan Shan said, "Your films were an important part of my growth, thank you. Mr. Heung Wa Sing, safe travels!" Law Kar Ying also posted, "I miss Mr. Heung. I was fortunate enough to take a role in ADVENTURE OF THE KING (LUNG FUNG DIM) and become familiar with Mr. Heung. He and I got along very well. When he talked about movies he would suddenly come alive and rise to the heaven. He gave me a special image, unfortunately this film did not trigger any reaction and he was a little disillusioned. Years later I heard that he was ill and wanted to visit, but I was unable to make the connection. Today I found out that he has passed, regret was inevitable. I wish Mr. Heung arrival on the spirit mountain soon."

Lau Tak Wa yesterday responded. "Mr. Heung Wa Sing at the end of the 80s and 90s built Wins film company. He was a very quick witted and strongly creative filmmaker. He had variety in his film creations and productions, including drama, comedy, biography and other subjects. Among them were many classics like TRAGIC HERO (YING HUNG HO HAN), LEE ROCK, CASINO RAIDER (JI JUEN MO SEUNG) and others. He absolutely was a figure who has made great contributions to the film industry. I wish him safe travels."

Hung Wa Sing's final production was ADVENTURE OF THE KING. Lead actor Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) said that he really missed him. Over a decade ago when he came to Hong Kong he already knew him. He used to go to his home for dinner. Every time they saw each other they kept talking about movies. He was someone with quite a mind for film. His enthusiasm for film was almost excessive, each time he told a film story it would be exciting. Siu Chai said, "The impression that Brother Sing gave me was just like a hero in a wuxia novel, bold and loyal to his friends. He used to tell me old Hong Kong stories that I didn't know. I really liked to drink, once as soon as I got up I saw him with a wine glass. I wish that he is drinking in Heaven without any pain."

Siu Chai said that earlier when he found out about his illness, he called Mrs. Heung. However she only gave the good news and not the bad one. He did not know that he was actually so seriously ill.

Johnnie To Kei Fung said, "Mr. Heung Wa Sing and I have worked together, he was an investor who respected creators! When Hong Kong film was at its peak, he actively participated and produced many entertaining films! I wish him safe travels! I send my condolences to his family." Fat Gor expressed deeply regret over Heung Wa Sing's passing. He pointed out that Mr. Heung made many commercial films in the 80s and the 90s, made Hong Kong film more and more popular and even launched it internationally. He truly has made enormous contributions to the Hong Kong film industry. Mr. Heung was a film industry genius. Fat Gor even praised Mr. Heung for his humor. When they worked together, he would have a very hard time chiming in during chats. He would only listen to him talk. Stephen Chow Sing Chi, who Heung Wa Sing made into a star, said, "It's very sudden, very regrettable!"

Cheung Yuk Shan said, "Last night I learned about the passing of Mr. Heung and felt very saddened, I also had deep regret because the world has lost someone like him. I hope his family would not be too heartbroken, take care of their health and I am sending infinite blessing. In my heart, Mr. Heung was a smart and talented people with foresight and leadership abilities. He also has contributed a lot to the film industry, given everyone a lot of joy and excitement. Anyone could see his hard work and effort, which will be forever recorded in history. I will silently mourn him in my own way, I wish him safe travels." Cheung Man also wished Heung Wa Sing safe travels, the Buddhist Wa Sing would definitely be able to reach sukhavati. Director Wong Jing said, "Wa Sing has been practicing Buddhism for years, I believe he will be able to reach sukhavati without any pain."
