When Eddie Peng Yu-Yan worked on a family scene in CLOSE TO YOU, he was too in character and lost control. As she cried and sat on the ground without getting up, Ming Dow and others did not know what to do.

Peng Yu-yan played a boxer who has never won a match. His only wish was to be able to win a match to cheer up his ailing grandfather. When he worked on the family scene with his on screen grandfather Wang Jue, Peng Yu-yan was so in character that he could not control his emotions. He cried so hard that he had a hard time with the lines. The director said how Peng Yu-Yan was and immediately halted the shoot for Peng Yu-Yan to ease his sadness, but instead Peng Yu-Yan just sat on the ground and cried out loud while ignoring other actors and workers. The director cleared the set temporarily for Peng Yu-Yan to be alone. When they returned to the production, before the director yelled "action" Peng Yu-Yan was already sobbing and in character. Standing to the side, Ming Dow, Amber Kuo (Kwok Choi Kit) and others were touched by the scene and could not stop sniffling. After this scene, Ming Dow approached Peng Yu-Yan and cried along with him. Peng Yu-Yan expressed that because the scene was very close to his personal experience, he was reminded of his own grandfather.
