Carina Lau Ka Ling went to Venice along with DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DEE YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK). Rival Maggie Cheung Man Yuk also appeared in the Water City to promote her short film BETTER LIFE. In the film Maggie played Mazu. she honestly said that before the shoot she did not know it was a movie. In addition she spent one day to shoot nine scenes, which she thought was a lot of fun.

Maggie stated that she has not made any new film because she was at an awkward age. She joked that she was too old to play a daughter but too young to play a mother. She might as well wait a few years to play a grandmother. Although she was not acting, Maggie has spent everyday very fulfillingly. Her idea of "Better Life" was to wake up and do whatever she wants everyday. She also often invited friends to dine at home, with all the cutting and cleaning she would be busy all day.

Although she seemed to have one leg out of the film industry, Maggie still would watch movies constantly. She watched mostly on flights. When she ran into movies that she liked she could go to the movies or buy the DVD. So far her favorite film was her own COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY (TIM MUK MUK).
