Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and director Derek Yee Tung Sing's collaboration has already been in negotiation for a long time. Siu Bo even stated that he had two scripts for Pak Chi to choose from. Pak Chi also still appreciated Siu Bo as her benefactor and hoped to work with him on the first film of her comeback. Both earlier even publicly stated that they will together on the famous Mainland novel based QIU HAI TANG with Tony Leung Chiu Wai. The story was about a Beijing opera troop actor Qiu Hai Tang who fell in love with a female university student, but later because she was forced to become a warlord's concubine Qiu Hai Tang's life took a tragic turn.

Actually Pak Chi and Siu Bo after numerous discussions were close to a deal, but lately something changed. As the new film production date changed, Pak Chi's schedule was unable to coordinate. Although both sides would like to work together and sincerely spent a lot of time on the negotiation, they could not come to an agreement and had to give up the collaboration.

Pak Chi's manager said, "Pak Chi and Siu Bo due to certain issues could not work together. (Was it due to scheduling?) I don't want to talk about it. (Was the character an issue too? QIU HAI TANG's character was very deep, would it be unsuitable?) That's not it. What we are looking at isn't QIU HAI TANG." Reportedly Pak Chi was reading the script GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI).
