Two Best Actors Andy Lau Tak Wa and Tony Leung Chiu Wai
20 years after INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) worked together again on
THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI). The film has been scheduled for a global
simultaneous release on December 30th. Two nights ago THE GOLDFINGER
held its premier and the Emperor Cinema Plus+ opening ceremony.
Emperor Group chief Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Sing and Dr. Peter Lam Kin
Ngok were cinema opening ceremony guests. THE GOLDFINGER team
including director Felix Chong Man Keung, actors Leung Chiu Wai, Lau
Tak Wa, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Alex Fong Chung
Shun, Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Chin Kar Lok and others shared their
production experience. Guests included the security bureau chief
Chris Tang Ping Keung, Hins Cheung King Hin, Sammy Sum Chun Hin, Irene
Wan Bik Ha and Vincy Chan (Wing Yi). Wa Jai and Wai Jai's fans kept
screaming to cheer on their idols. The two Best Actors were very
friendly, often waving to the audience. Another bright spot at the
premiere was Carina Lau Ka Ling, who came to support her husband Leung
Chiu Wai. When Wai Jai and Wa Jai pushed a big pile of cash into a
safe on the stage, Ka Ling even took photos for Wai Jai.
The security bureau chief Chris Tang Ping Keung saw his idol
Wa Jai and fulfilled a dream, revealing that because of THE EMISSARY
he had a police dream. Wa Jai stated that he and Wai Jai did not
work together again until 20 years later. Normally they rarely saw
each other, but when working together they very naturally were very
compatible. Wai Jai also agreed that he and Wa Jai had great
chemistry, which was based on when they started acting they were
already good friends. Thus he had an invisible bond. Wa Jai said
that in the 80s he has already known Chong Man Keung, one of the
screenwriters at this company. The first company commercial had a
slogan "Excited Before the Start", which he also shot. This time
he too was "excited before working together". In the film Ah Sa and
Wai Jai had a passionate kiss scene, Ah Sa said that she was very
into it and asked Wai Jai if he was too. Wai Jai answered, "I too was
very into it." Ah Sa also revealed that she has met Sister Ka Ling
before, actually she has already seen the film. "Sister Ka Ling told
me that I should have kissed with even more gusto! The level now I
feel is already with a lot of gusto." The host asked if he would
accept even more gusto? Wai Jai awkwardly smiled and said, "No matter
what, if this level is right it is just fine."
Ah Sa said that she was very nervous as the movie was about to
be released, because she has yet to see the film. However while
working with the two Best Actors she instead was not too nervous. Now
she was more anxious about her own performance. Speaking of her kiss
with Wai Jai making her the public enemy of women, Ah Sa joked, "It's
hard to make a living." In the film she even had to wear fake busts
to create a good figure, she said, "I had to get busty, Director Chong
Man Keung originally asked me to wear the fake busts out to promote
because they were a character too. However this fake chest was
special effect make up, everyday it would require three hours to glue
on." After wearing the fake chest, would she be envious of big
chested girls? She said, "I am not envious, I have my own!"
Rich in acting experience, Wai Jai said that he would not stop
looking at her because Ah Sa had a better figure. He concluded that
this performance was not too tough, but it was more exhausting than
making dramatic films in the past because this time the character
required a little more energy for the performance. Wa Jai agreed
that this performance as not too tough, ultimately they did not have
too many action scenes except for a car crash scene. However it was
also not the most comfortable film either, because he too had pressure
as he wanted to show some performance too. "However after watching the
movie, I thought it was very good. Actually the movie has several
versions. This version is the one the director is the most pleased
with. During the performance the energy was very high, and the methods
were very special." Wai Jai also was pleased with his performance
because he has already given his greatest effort. Before the premiere
he and Wa Jai also attended 6 audience appreciation shows in a row.
He was happy to interact with the audience, listened to their
opinions and views. Speaking of their INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH)
theme song becoming a classic last time, they did not have another duet
this time? Wai Jai and Wa Jai looked at each other and smiled. Wai
Jai said, "Actually the director has suggested it, but I haven't sung
in a very long time. I didn't dare to too much." Why did Wa Jai not
encourage Wai Jai? Wa Jai joked, "I didn't dare to too much either."
Speaking of having two film releases I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM
HUNG) and THE GOLDFINGER at the same time, Wa Jai said that he of course
did not want this too much, but with two different companies
investing in them he could do nothing about that. In the past he also
has "fought himself". He only hoped that the audience would support
both movies.
Chan Ka Lok, Fong Chung Shun and Yam Tat Wa had more scenes
with Leung Chiu Wai. Yam Tat Wa said that working with Wai Jai again
after POLICE CADET 2, the feeling was great. Their original intention
for acting has not changed . This time would be the return of "Han
Bun" but playing the villain would not have a good ending. He also
urged everyone to be careful with the numerous scams around the world.
This film was a great lesson. Speaking of the film's many stock
speculation scenes, everyone said that they have not been speculating
in stocks. Fong Chung Shun joked, "Who is mightier than Brother Wa!
With homes all around the world. I just have a few shirt buttons."
Brother Wa said that Fong Chung Shun's luxury watch and car were already
more expensive than his home. Fong Chung Shun cried poverty and said
that he has already sold them all. Chan Ka Lok said that when he
learned that he would work with Wai Jai he was very nervous. The
director before the production gave him psychological therapy. Yam
Tat Wa also taught him to speak with more presence than Wai Jai. After
coming in contact with Wai Jai he felt that he was not all that cool.
He would take the initiative and interact with him, as well as sharing
his past television experience with him. In the film Ka Lok had to
"threaten" Wai Jai. He said that after getting the script and becoming
the character he could do anything. He also tried to express to the
director how to perform, and the director said that he was very
"gutsy".
Fong Chung Shun said about his former girlfriend Sheila Chan
Suk Lan on an online program revealed that she once slapped Hoyan Mok,
"She hit me too, and I was hospitalized for two weeks. Entertainment
news needs to be juicier, I hope that she would find a good home and
good health for the rest of her life." In addition the Yam Tat Wa
started A LIGHT NEVER GOES OUT (DUN FOR LAN SHAN) originally would
represent Hong Kong in the competition for the 96th Oscars Best
International Film; but because he was a voting member and one of the
actors in the film, the film was qualified out of a conflict of
interest. Yam Tat Wa responded, "This is better off left for the
Federation of Motion Film Producers to talk about, a mishap took place
in between. The Federation would make a complete conclusion."
Director Chong Man Keung and producer Wong Bun used many new
faces this time, including the younger Gladys Li Ching Kwan and Ken
Hung Cheuk Lap and sparing no effort in helping the film industry new
blood. Speaking of THE GOLDFINGER finally being released, Director
Chong described it as "removing the mask after the pandemic, finally
breathing a sigh of relief." He also pointed out that working with 4
Best Actors this time felt like "driving a Ferrari, I just gave them
gas and they took off!"
Playing Lau Tak Wa's wife, Catherine Chau Ka Yin said, "Mr.
Lau's face value has already reached the ceiling. After playing his
wife, I probably would never be able to get married!" Hung Cheuk Lap
played Wai Jai's lawyer, he sentimentally said, "Thank you to the team
for giving me the opportunity, I had one scene I was really nervous
in. A few simple lines kept me awake all night, I was so afraid that I
wanted to cry. I hope I would have a chance to work with the same team
on a sequel."
Vincy Chan (Wing Yi) and Angela Hui Ching Wan also attended
the film premiere of THE GOLDFINGER and even took the opportunity to
get photos with the two lead actors Lau Tak Wa and Leung Chiu Wai.
When they mentioned how they got the photos they could not be more
excited. Hui Ching Wan said that although she and Lau Tak Wa had eye
contact three times, she still did not dare to invite him for a photo.
Finally Sammy Sum Chun Hin had to lend her a hand for her first photo
with Wa Jai.
Wing Yi said that when she saw everyone lined up for pictures,
she of course would not miss out. However when she took a photo with
Leung Chiu Wai she did not dare to look into his eyes, as she was
afraid that they would electrocute her. Hui Ching Wan said that when
they left she ran into Leung Chiu Wai, but was afraid tht staring at
Wai Jain in the elevator the whole time would make him feel awkward.
So she did not dare to get into the elevator.
