The Jiang Wen directed LET THE BULLETS FLY after 17 day release in the Mainland. The box office already broke 500 million RMB. Several actors including Liao Fan, Zhang Mi, Shao Bing and Jiang Wu immediately posed for photos to wish viewers Happy New Year and thank them for their support. At the same time, the film decided to release advanced screenings.

Emperor Motion Pictures said, "The film originally would be officially released in Hong Kong on January 13. Due to growing reports and Mainland box office news Hong Kong viewers look very much forward to this film. To make their wishes come true, starting this Friday (January 7) they can enjoy the film at the cinemas." The film started a trend in the Mainland and Jiang Wen's previous film THE SUN ALSO RISES also benefited. Some Mainland cinemas immediately scheduled for the film's re-release for viewers who have missed the chance to enjoy it. Jiang Wen was very happy to hear the news. "This is great! Back then everyone said that SUN was an incomprehensible movie. I definitely believe after 50 years later, viewers who will have a chance to see SUN will be very surprised to see how people 50 years ago would make a movie that was so ahead of its time."
