After the New Spring holiday, the Mainland and the Hong Kong Lunar New Year film box office conducted a small summation. Continuing its Mainland momentum, JOURNEY TO THE WEST CONQUERING THE DEMONS after 8 days in release broke the 600 million yuan RMB mark at the box office to become the Mainland Lunar New Year champion.

As for Hong Kong, JOURNEY reached HK$22 million and became the Chinese film champion. Although it could not rival foreign film A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD's 24.73 million, it was able to overcome its competition at the single day box office. JOURNEY's momentum is rather strong. Entering the second wave of promotions to pump up the box office, the film company is negotiation with Stephen Chow Sing Chi about his schedule. Hopefully he will attend the Mainland and Hong Kong audience appreciation events and celebrations. In addition the other two Lunar New Year films I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 (2013 NGOR OI HK GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) made 14.69 million in Hong Kong while HOTEL DELUX (BAK SING JAU DIM) made 13.78 million.
